Great new sushi spot in Champaign! They have a really nice selection of traditional nigiri, and what impressed me the most were the toro pieces made with tuna or salmon belly, both absolutely amazing. The grilled scallop was also fantastic and full of flavor. The Wagyu tartare is another must try.

The house sake is only 7.99 and so good, definitely worth ordering. We also enjoyed the double salmon roll and the scallop dynamite roll, everything was prepared quickly and came out very fresh.

The staff was very attentive and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. The only thing I missed was more traditional Asian desserts, but the tiramisu they offered was still tasty.

I am already looking forward to going back and trying different rolls and nigiri. Definitely worth a visit if you love sushi!

Delicious sushi. We were gonna eat at Sushi Man on prospect but it was packed. So we searched and looked for other options and saw the reviews were excellent for this place. Not realizing initially that it was a new restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised at how cute it was inside. Apparently it was their soft opening, which we didn’t know. Service was a little slower due to that I’m sure, but they were super friendly and apologetic about the wait times. The food was worth it. And we weren’t in any hurry anyway. We tried 4 different sushi rolls. All absolutely exceptional. Needless to say, we are super happy that we came across Sumo Kitchen and gave it a try because it’s amazing. Highly recommend. I hope they keep up the amazing food quality and it stays open for many decades to come! We will certainly be back.

Such a nice new place! The ambience and low candle light is so gorgeous, and the restaurant itself is very well-kept and clean. It’s a really relaxing and calm vibe, and the space is beautiful to dine in. The servers are very fast and accommodating, and the food was brought out pretty quickly. The lobster is very savory and bouncy, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for such a nice restaurant. The sushi rolls were light and fluffy, and the flavors mix amazingly well together. Also, I asked last-minute if they had any candles to celebrate a birthday, and our server was kind enough to bring one out with a small cake! Thank you so much for making this a very memorable and special night- the food was delicious and the staff + restaurant are wonderful! We will be coming back here soon!

Even though I am sad that there is no longer ayce sushi, their premium sushi offering is very good quality and fresh. Very sweet uni and the “dream” set was well worth it!

Stopped in for lunch. Had the basic fast lunch, 2 protein, choice of rice, vegetables (mushrooms and onions) and miso soup, plus the Mysterious Sushi roll. Very tasty.

Look out Champaign. This place is absolutely fantastic. Had lunch with wife and food was delicious. It’s working on being my top 3 places to eat. I must come back to try more of the menu. Stay tuned

Good concept and space

But for the price, the quality of sushi and craftsmanship is not there. As you can see in a poorly rolled, 85% cucumber shrimp tempura roll. I hope they improve with time, till then Sakanya will continue to be the spot in town.

Sumo Kitchen took over the spot of Moki AYCE sushi, which I was very sad. But the food served at Sumo made the farewell sweet. Ordered mystery roll, double salmon roll, Uni, and A5 Wagyu with cavier. I forgot to take pictures in my loss for beautiful presentation. Fresh (cool) and flavorful. Mystery roll was very very fresh and smoky. Mystery-looked like tuna belly and escargo flambayed filled with crisps and crunch sprinkled with caviar. Beautiful. Service was fast and precise, even though we came last hour of closing. Great dinner. Bit priced/pricey for ingredients and portions used but the price you pay is well worth it for assembly, ratios, and quality. Interior design of building seems to be a bit lacking even though you can tell they tried renovating and adding decor there was alot of missed juxpositions from wine racks and wine decor but rustic barn wood backing with 70s style chandelier and carton banners.

We visited for the first time on a monday evening to an empty restaurant. The decor and lighting was a very nice vibe and our waitress was very kind. We ordered the mango roll which was sweet, but was very delicious and decently sized. Half of their menu includes different cuts of steaks. We ordered Udon with steak to try it out. Unfortunately the cubed steak bites in the udon were so tough and chewy with no flavor at all. We couldnt finish the meat but the rest of the dish was tasty. Stick to the sushi!

Best restaurant in Champaign. Hands down . Our waiter was super nice and the food is worth EVERY PENNY. Though tye use of AI for a few decorations around the restaurant is a bit suspicious for me. Its a very calming atmosphere! My family was down at Champaign for a state wrestling tournament and we live about an hour away. But I would drive ALL THE WAY BACK just to eat here again! And I especially love the “mysterious roll” as its always a new thing every time! The first al thing I have to say tho is that the taxes are suspiciously high though its probably just a Champaign thing. Would definitely still recommend tho!
