This is one of the few places with authentic tacos. They offer a good variety of meats and flavors. The place is clean, including the restrooms. The cashiers are kind and the service is fast.

I understand that everyone can have a bad day, and I understand portion control, but this is not the first time this has happened. The salsa lady ruined the experience. I bought 10 tacos and respectfully asked for limes, but I only received three small slices. When I asked for more, she became visibly annoyed. She didn’t offer help or ask if I needed anything — she just stared at me. When I tried to put salsa on my tacos, she suddenly took the spoon away before I even finished.

It felt like I was asking for a favor just to get basic condiments. I can say that condiments are the heart and soul of a taco — they are very important. How would you feel if you got a burger with no veggies, ketchup, or mustard — just bread and meat? That’s how it feels. The rude attitude and lack of proper condiments made the experience disappointing. This is one of the few places with authentic tacos. They offer a good variety of meats and flavors. El Taco Melon used to be the absolute best spot for tacos in Salem, and I believe the food is still excellent. The young men making and serving the tacos are always kind, courteous, and consistently deliver outstanding food. However, my experience has been repeatedly tarnished by the attitude of the woman in charge of the condiments and salsas. At first, I thought perhaps she was just rude to me for being a woman, but after reading other reviews and observing interactions, I see many men have had the same negative experience. I always greet her with kindness and a smile, as I was taught to respect my elders (especially as a Latina woman), yet each time I politely ask for onions or jalapeños behind the glass, she rolls her eyes and acts visibly bothered. Unfortunately, this isn’t a one-time problem. I’ve visited many times and have encountered the same attitude repeatedly. I know she is the matriarch of the family, so I don’t believe her sons (the kind employees) can easily address this, but the consistent lack of warmth and friendliness affects the overall experience and risks driving customers away. I genuinely hope the family will have an honest conversation about how important a welcoming attitude is, and if the work is no longer enjoyable, it might be time to consider a change for the sake of their great business.

not what it used to be, for the price and what you get is kinda crazy. i understand portion control and not wanting to waste food, but the lady at the salsa bar needs to practice kindness if they want people to come back. she was really rude and ruined the experience unfortunately.

Got through line quickly. This shop says it’s only open weekend evenings. No frills type of place. Solid choice for quick meal and tasty enough for me to return if I’m in the area. Asks for cash if possible.

I was really excited to go based on reviews….I don’t know if was not my lucky day I tried asada, pastor suadero and tripa tacos………tripa -rubbery hard to chew
Pastor….really pale (not well marinated) lack of flavor.
Asada ,not that bad but noticed a perfumed like flavor.
SUADERO. not to bad… please don’t get me wrong…..go and try’em ..and have your own expirience.

AMAZING! Reminds me so much of home back in Cali. Yum to the tacos al pastor(pic below) and the Gringas de carne asada. Honestly, everything is fantastic, including the salsa bar. The guac salsa is my favorite. El Taco Melon is a necessity in life!! ❤

Salsa lady is rude and stingy with the condiments. Spent almost $50 and she didn’t want to give me more jalapeños and onions. She’s In charge of the salsa bar but gave me more attitude when I didn’t know I needed to serve my own cilantro for the tacos. Gave me a headache dealing with her
