Ocean Thai is one of those places that instantly puts you at ease with warm smiles, quick service, and food that arrives hot and full of flavor. We loved the green curry and pad thai, both so comforting and beautifully balanced.
The prices are reasonable, the portions generous, and there’s even a great kids’ menu, which always makes dining out as a family a little easier. The fish tank keeps the little ones mesmerized, which honestly feels like a tiny gift in itself.
It’s tasty, friendly, fast, and reliably delicious, the kind of neighborhood spot you’re just happy exists.

I have been going to this restaurant (both locations) for almost two decades it is a favorite. Food and atmosphere perfect every time. This is the first time I am writing a review. I rarely write reviews good or bad!
If I could put service at negative 5 stars I would!
I popped in on a whim, missed lunch menu, no problem, ordered off the regular menu. Pork green curry. I sat down assuming she knew I was staying. When she handed me my food in bag. I explained I wanted to eat it there because I would have to eat it in the car and she told me that I couldn’t eat to go food there and offered no other option but for me to eat it in my car even after mentioning I don’t live around here.
I have a 45 minute drive home as I do not live in the area but am in the area multiple times a week.
I’m writing this between bites in my car… livid and now too upset to finish my food because who wants to eat their car?

My sister lives close so my mother has been racing about this delicious ocean Thai restaurant for years, we just arrived and I recognized the restaurant I came about 20 years ago and I have always remembered how good the food was. Still just as good drunken noodles, rib eye steak salad and atheir new Thai green tea is also a must order, I could drink this everyday day instead of my daily matcha. Clean tranquil great dining experience for the family. Don’t wait come asap you will be happy our dinner and drinks which was a lot of food and we have leftovers about $36 plus drinks total less than $50 and worth every penny. We drove over 1 hour to get here and we will be back it was a nice surprise to see the place still looks clean and nice about 12 tables just big enough but quaint enough. It’s been a constant flow of customers in and take out. That’s always a good sign they recognize good quality food

This is my favorite Thai food place. I used to live 1 block over back in the good old days. The lunch menu is a great deal, with your selection + salad or soup + a spring roll.
The chef knows how to perfectly blend all the exquisite Thai flavors to prepare a cohesive & perfectly blended penang curry, which is my favorite. He also serves the meal as if you are a 5 star guest at a local Thai restaurant. I love that he treats us like 5 star guests. He’s a perfectionist.
The ladies are so very nice. Any of the curries, if you like Thai curry, are delish. The fried rice & noodle dishes also thumbs up. I’m a big fan. Also, since 2007, my 1st time, the prices remain reasonable. I don’t know about the Vista location. Because I stick to the Mission location. It is a must when I visit Oceanside. I hope you enjoy Ocean Thai as much as I.

The best Thai Food I have ever eaten. We went with a group of 17, and got the opportunity to try several dishes, all of which were on point. The service was also spectacular….all around a Thai experience that is hard to beat. Everything was very authentic. Highly recommend this place!

We enjoyed our two curry dishes and the papaya salad.
For us, the papaya salad was too fish sauce strong, it was good, but overpowering.
We enjoyed the beef curry and our tofu kabocha curry. Perfectly flavored, a 5/10 is genuinely a five, and the portions were great with just enough to bring home leftovers.
As a group we enjoyed the ribs appetizer, but the beef was tough and overcooked. Flavorwise the ribs were great, but chewy.

I had a view of the plaza, which is cute with a beautiful flowering tree. My Papaya Salad was fresh and delicious, I added on 3 shrimp. My Thai tea was strong and silky sweet. The service was warm and welcoming. It seemed like regulars walked in a few times as the staff seemed to recognize them as they saw and greeted them. Even the bathroom was pretty. It was a lovely experience altogether. I will return whenever I get a chance.
