First time dining here, was very welcoming and excellent customer service. Didn’t have to wait long for the food to be served. I had by far the best pizza in a very long time. They even had my favourite imported beer Ichnuso unfiltered!! I was given a complimentary digestive alcoholic shot alway, the staff were all very warm, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend and definitely go again.

We decided to visit Maurizio’s new location after seeing it advertised everywhere as an authentic Italian restaurant run by a proper Italian family, which is clearly meant to be the unique selling point.
Unfortunately the experience did not live up to expectations from the very start. The booking system is horrendous. You have to text or WhatsApp to book and even then I had to chase to confirm whether we actually had a reservation. There is also no menu available online which makes it hard to know what to expect before arriving.
The drinks felt overpriced and disappointing. £4 for a plastic bottle of Coke that you could easily buy from a supermarket comes across as quite tacky, especially for a restaurant positioning itself as authentic and high quality.
I expected the food to be something really special given the strong emphasis on being a traditional Italian family run restaurant. The reality was that the food was pretty average and nothing memorable. The presentation was nice but the mozzarella was quite bland and could have been improved with something as simple as salt.
The restaurant itself is small which is not a problem, but the tables are extremely cramped. You are so close to other diners it feels like they may as well be part of your table.
Service was another issue. There were only two servers on a very busy Friday night. While the server who took our order was good at checking dietary requirements and clarifying which dishes contained meat, there was no check in during the meal. We had to wait around ten minutes just to try and get someone’s attention to ask for chilli oil.
As we walked in, the chef was outside smoking, which was not a great first impression. The main server appeared to be the dad of the family and the whole experience felt like an episode of Fawlty Towers. Plates were dropped, people were tripping over, and at one point we found a knife on the floor facing upwards which was genuinely concerning. When we tried to alert staff, the server tripped over the knife and fell into another table, knocking plates everywhere.
What should have been a romantic Friday night dinner turned into a chaotic comedy show. Seating was chaotic, service was chaotic, and the food was bland and forgettable. Even getting the bill took ages. We saw another customer ask for their bill and the server agreed, then disappeared out of the restaurant for around twenty minutes.
The restaurant gives the impression of being very busy, but I do not think it truly is. It feels busy because people are waiting so long to get the bill and cannot leave. We honestly spent longer trying to get someone’s attention than we did actually eating our food, which creates the illusion of a constantly full restaurant.
Overall it was a real shame. The concept and reputation suggest something special, but the execution fell very short.

Cherrie Lou “Chelo” Conde
This, by far, is my most favourite restaurant in town. My partner and I have frequented here. The staff are always warm and welcoming (special mention to Rafika, George and Ry. We miss Olga too). Maurizio, and the always present, lady chef are both energetic. Today’s visit had been extra great given my partner’s pasta preference which the lady chef has gracefully granted. Thank you to the lady chef who made my partner’s night joyful! We’ll visit again soon!

The best Italian we ever had! Went out for girls dinner and didn’t book table anywhere fortunately they accommodated us with no issues even though evening was busy. All staff amazing and I believe the owners too. Would recommend and definitely come back soon as we can. Attaching photos, pizza was so amazing half of it was gone within first 2 minutes! Best of best!

Went twice and food was amazing. Currently my favourite place in Leicester. Not a pizza person but the pizza there was so fresh and nice. Took some time for the chef to prepare the food but it was really worth the waiting!
The short hair lady and the girl staff were very friendly and helpful.

Probably the best and most authentic italian food in the whole Midlands. “Maurizio” pizza is just pure perfection and the whole place feels like you’re in Italy. Amazing service, especially when Maurizio is there, you just feel that vibe when on holiday in Italy. Very well deserved for them to be moved from
Narborough road to City centre. They need expansion tho because the place is always packed with people which only proves how great their cuisine is. 12/10 always!

I visited this amazing Italian restaurant on Saturday evening, and it was incredibly busy. Despite the crowd, the service was outstanding, thanks to Rafica the waitress who was always smiling and extremely professional.
The food took some time to be prepared but the Maurizio pizza was simply fantastic! It was incredibly delicious and the dish was prepared with great care with each ingredient perfectly in place. The pasta was cooked to perfection with a creamy sauce.
Overall it was an excellent experience despite the crowds with efficient and professional service and food that lived up to the high standards of a great Italian restaurant.

We were looking for a nice atmospheric restaurant and had heard good things about Maurizio’s. This place absolutely did not disappoint, the food was superb!
Lasagne, pizza with forest mushrooms + the Baba dessert, all gorgeous. The best Italian food in Leicester by far.

Thoer food is delicious! I used to go to Maurizios when it started off as a little takeaway place and then to dine when it was off Granby Street. Their new location is perfect. Had the Nduja pizza which tastes amazing.
