I am from Chicago and forever on the quest to find “real” Chicago style pizza when I am in other places. This pizza nailed it! The crust had multiple layers reaching the correct thickness and the sauce to cheese ratio was spot on! Alex gave me a Duet Coke as I waited and we had a nice chat. If you want to try authentic Chicago pizza in Fredericksburg, this is your place!!

We almost didn’t stop in here because it kind of looked like it a lunch place and we weren’t sure if it served alchoholic beverages. I’m so glad we discovered Sammy T’s. Angie served us wonderful hand made drinks at the bar, Essprosso Martini’s to be specific and the Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza was outstanding. I’ve been waiting for years to be able to have a great pizza when I’m in FXbrg visiting my family. Met Jeff the owner and could not have had a better experience. Thank you all so much.

I called ahead for a large with everything. Service was prompt and the pie was ready on time. It was expensive but I’m telling you this pizza is 1000% worth it. I will eat off of it for 3 days at least. I asked Alex to put extra cheese on it and he told me that would be too much. I believed him after I saw what the regular amount of cheese looks like

It’s great that in downtown Fredericksburg we have 2 fantastic pizza places (YMMAS and Benny’s). If you have never had deep dish you must give this a try!

(1) Deep dish pizza dough is supposed yo be very different from regular pizza dough. It is supposed to be softer, wetter, and packed with 2-3x more fat. The dough here is very hard, too crunchy.
(2) The pan needs to be spread generously with butter first. Once baked the crust will be like fried, crispy, golden, buttery. The crust here doesn’t look like fried, it looks more dry.
(3) UNO’s deep dish pizza is better than the recipe here. For the price YMMAS charges, I was really hoping for much more tasty authentic deep dish pizza.

I was really looking forward to digging into some legit deep-dish pizza, but unfortunately, this order turned into more frustration than satisfaction.

Presentation:
The larger pizza was a mess when I opened the box. The entire pie had shifted to one side, causing all the cheese, sauce, and toppings to slide off and pool against the edge of the crust. It looked like it had been dropped, tilted, or slammed during delivery. On top of that, it was unevenly baked—with large burnt spots that made it even less appetizing. Honestly, it didn’t even resemble a whole pizza anymore.

Taste (or lack of):
I can’t speak much to the flavor of the larger one—because I couldn’t eat it. Between the messy collapse, the burnt areas, and the way everything was jumbled together, it just wasn’t edible. The smaller pizza was slightly better in structure, but even that had its own issues with uneven cooking and charring.

Overall Experience:
This was disappointing, plain and simple. Deep-dish should be rich, indulgent, and comforting. Instead, I ended up tossing out a good portion of the order. Not what I expected for something I was genuinely excited about.

I am a big fan of Chicago style pizza. Uno was a go-to when they were around. I had big hopes for ymmas when we ordered two the other day.
Firstly, they’re huge! Two 14” pizzas were way more than four people could possibly eat. I’m guessing but when carrying them to my car it felt like an easy 10-12 pounds of pizza.
The amount of sauce and cheese was more than generous, and the veges and meat were also ample.
There isn’t much room to eat these onsite, so carry out is your best option. It does take a while to prepare them so allow that when ordering.
My main gripe, and it’s a personal preference, is that they scatter about 1/2 cup of what had to be Romano cheese on top. I like funky cheeses, but for some reason the added cheese kinda screwed up the flavor profile for me. Again, just my tastes. I wish it would have been Parmesan so it wouldn’t have been so funky. Very over the top.
These are best eaten fresh. It does reheat ok but the crust is best the same day.
Overall they were good, but pricey also. Start small and order up if it’s your first time. They are substantial!

Authentic and tasty Chicago deep dish style pizza. I lived in the Chicago area for 30 years and welcome this pizza option in Fredericksburg. I love the sauce on this pizza, the right balance of tomato taste and a mild kick. The picture shows the large and medium. We can feed 4 with a large but need more for 5+ people. The pizza does not come cut into slices, that is DIY.

Amazing pizza! 1 slice is all you really need. We get a large for a family of 4 with 2 teenage boys and we have left overs. It is so good! Not cheap, but you can tell everything is fresh. Did I mention how good this is?

This Fredericksburg pizzeria serves up a delicious deep-dish meat pizza that rivals those found in Chicago. It’s a true hidden gem and a must-try for any pizza lover visiting the area.

So first I’d like to say we had no idea this place existed. We ordered an 11in pie just cheese. It was $32! It looked ok at the restaurant but when we got it home we realized just how thin it was. For that price we expected a decently thick pie, it was not. The flavor is ok, but definitely not worth the price.
