My husband ordered the carne asada burrito and size and meat was great! And flavorful! I ordered the combo carne asada tacos, also very flavorful and lots of meat in the 4 tacos, it came with rice and refried beans. We definitely will come back. Service was friendly. 1st Mexican restaurant we say yes!

We just recently started coming to El Gordo… it’s our new favorite quick Mexican food place. We used to go somewhere else for quick Mexican food but wanted to try something different. El Gordo does not disappoint! Their Taco Tuesday special is a fantastic deal and they aren’t cheap with the meat (like our prior place stated doing). The quality of the meat is also great and tastes delicious. Love the shredded beef tacos but the chicken tacos are my favorite- the chicken tastes so fresh! Also, their burritos are delicious- especially the Descado burrito. Lastly, both their red and green sauce are delicious! Always greeted with a friendly attitude and the food is always fresh. My only complaint is that the beans lack flavor. Everything else has been fantastic so far! We will keep coming back for our usual once a week visit.

El Gordo’s is the best! The word is out, and they are very busy, especially on Taco Tuesday, because their tacos are great! Generous and tasty portions for a fair price! Free salsa bar with chips, salsa, peppers, and carrots. Super fast service and really nice people here. They remember my favorite order before I can tell them. We’ve been regulars since they opened their new location here in the Frontier Mall, and even before that when they were an Alibertos on the west side of Prescott. We’re regulars that come every week for Taco Tuesday, Casa Birria Taco Wednesday, and sometimes on the weekends for their fajita burrito (fried chimichunga style), fish tacos, or Carne Asada fries. Even just their french fries are way better than In-N-Out, or any other fast food restaurant (we order them extra crisp, no salt). Our friends at El Gordo are like family to us, and we never go anywhere else anymore! In fact, a few years ago, they gave us two cool El Gordo insulated cups thanking us for being regulars!

The carne asada is mostly gristle and at least 5 or 6 days old where it tastes bad and almost like liver. My babies love tacos and are always devouring them upon arrival. Not these ones. We all shared the same reaction after about $80 of food ordered. Gross. The Cabeza also tastes very old and is full of gristle and tastes too close to liver. The chicken quesadilla was decent and the quesabirria was very soggy but ok. We sat for about an hour and a half and not one time did employees clean any of the tables even after 2 or more parties ate and left. We had to clean our own table upon arrival. Prices are very high to less than taco bell quality ingredients but much worst management. Do not reccomend.

We had a not so pleasant experience at another restaurant, leading us to leave and venture off to find someplace else to eat. We did not travel far before stumbling into this amazing Mexican restaurant. Plenty of room, fair amount of parking. Best part though, I had the best shrimp & beef burrito I have ever had.

This was a complete ripoff. I paid over $15 for two chicken tacos and both were basically just piles of cheap shredded lettuce with barely any chicken at all. For the price you would expect a decent amount of meat but it was pathetic. Lettuce is the cheapest filler you can use and it is obvious they loaded up on it to cut corners.

The photo speaks for itself. I had to dig just to find any chicken and when I did it was barely a few tiny pieces. The rice and beans were average at best but when the main part of the meal is this disappointing it ruins the whole thing.

I will not be coming back and I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting quality for their money. Total waste.

Frontier Village Prescott location: Before today I would have given service and atmosphere a better rating as I’d only picked up take out once before and it was fine. All other experiences have been placing door dash orders so no interactions there. Today I placed an order through the drive. There were 4 entrees and/or items for a total of just under $50. A 2 carne asada burrito combo, quesabirria with consomé, kids carne asada taco combo (taco, fries, churro), and shredded beef burrito. Bag was packed with red and green salsa, ketchup, forks, napkins. Wait time wasn’t bad. Two orders ahead of me and one came up behind. I enjoy their food in comparison to the other choices. Favorites have been the birria quesadilla although the consomé could be seasoned better. Birria tacos are good too. The carne asada can be too gristly and lacks seasoning but still enjoyable.

The issue today happened after they handed me the food and I asked if I could please get a big cup of water. The girl asked “what?” as I believe she didn’t hear me. I repeated the request for a cup of water. She says, “next time ask at the menu.” I said “ok” as she stood there giving me attitude. So I say, “It’s ok. Never mind.” She then says “Yeah” as if proving her point and closed the window in my face.

I understand you were busy or may have been having a bad day. But your customer service today cost you the cash tip I was ready to hand you. (No, I don’t put it in the open bucket hanging from the window.) It also gives the customer the impression that their patronage is not needed or appreciated and the manager and owner should take notice.
