Shah’s Halal was established in 2005 with one food cart in Richmond Hill Queens on 121st and Liberty Avenue, and we’ve been tantalizing taste buds ever since. In 2016, we developed our first Long Island branch with the goal in mind of becoming, “the best Halal Food Restaurant in Long Island NY” and we’ve definitely grown a lot since then! We know our customers are just as passionate about great food as we are.

Reviews
The food quality is good and the price is reasonable. Everything tasted fresh and nice. The customer service was also very good. The staff were polite, friendly, and welcoming. The place is also kid-friendly, so it is nice for families. Overall, I had a great experience and I recommend this place.
The staff was friendly and the service was quick, which made the whole experience even better. It’s a great place if you’re looking for affordable, tasty halal food that fills you up. I would definitely recommend Shah’s Halal to anyone who enjoys Middle Eastern-style street food, and I’ll be coming back again.
The person on the phone was great, kind, and patient. That put us off to a great start. Upon picking up the order, the lady at the counter was nice as well (could’ve been the same person). The food was packaged well and with care. Vegetable within items were fresh, and slightly bigger than average in size.
Lamb Gyro:
The lamb gyro was okay/good. I didn’t like the taste of the meat which was lamb. It didn’t taste homemade (kind of?), not that they claimed that it was. But it wasn’t a bad gyro, and I will try the chicken next to compare. I didn’t like the white sauce as much as others in the reviews. I thought it was okay but not like everyone else made it out to be like. And it is probably better in moderation, but my gyro kind of had too much on it. For me, it was like a 3.8 out of 5 on meat taste, and sauce taste and amount, a somewhat for the bigger-sized veggies. But, would i try a different one, yes, I will be trying the chicken next. But it’s not in my top list, nor would it make me return for that alone. The pita was fresh and had a great taste, as well as the veggies. The gyro was packed with all of the ingredients also. Not skimpy at all.
Fish:
The fish as a side was normal/good, no complaints. It was a good portion, better than actually, and for the price. I’d buy it again. Nothing memorable about the taste, though. But you get your money worth and don’t feel like you wastes it either. It is good if you want a little extra protein with your other selections. A 4.5 out of 5, because 0 complaints but no memorable or bursting flavor. It was good and meaty, and plentiful in service amount and price.
Pakora Chips:
These were good, and I would order them again. 4.7. Cooked perfectly, no complaints, not bursting with flavor but they’re not supposed to be, likely. I would likely get them with most or all orders if I frequented this place. I think adding a cheese (a well-balanced cheese) option would be good. Maybe a special sauce for them, if there isn’t one already. Crunchy, perfectly cooked and fresh taste. The cup overflowed with plenty of extra chips I was happy with this item.
Chicken over rice:
This was good, and the better selecrion of each item. It tasted fresh and had a good flavor. The chicken tasted fresh, tender, palatable, and worth a second buy at another time if i were choosing orher items as well. 4.6.
Overall, this place serves fresh ingredients, good and friendly service with care and patience, bountiful amounts of servings. Bright atmosphere. It is a few places down from the bars or clubs, whatever it was on Water St. So there were it’s of people out at night, but on decent behavior from the time frame that I was present. No one caused any scenes anywhere. Even the police drove past everyone and went elsewhere. Check it out. I am sure that there are at least some items you will enjoy. I suggest finding what you like from here and deciding your overall feeling about the food as a whole. I tried these 3 items on the first go and will try a couple more at least.
I will determine if it it’s not so bad but doesn’t make me crave it; or, if it’s good enough to continue coming back. My money did not feel wasted.
Other than that, there were no issues with the staff or food itself, and it is just a matter of if it hit the spot for me or not, enough to care to keep returning. But overall it’s a good establishment. They were also deserving of a tip.
Rating 4.4
Service: the service was very quick and easy to get all the toppings I wanted on my plate. They also describe and explain which section are for you to choose from.
Ambiance: it was pretty empty when we went in for lunch on Wednesday, but it was pretty clean inside and I had a lot of pop of artwork based on New York
Location accommodation: it’s at where boardroom used to exist and there is available street parking for two hours
Shah Halal is hands down one of the best halal spots I’ve been to! The food is always fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Their chicken and lamb over rice is a must-try—juicy, tender, and packed with the perfect blend of spices. The white sauce is top-tier, and the hot sauce adds just the right amount of kick.
Beyond the food, the service is quick and friendly, and the portions are generous for the price. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or craving a late-night meal, Shah Halal never disappoints. Highly recommend!
