Update to owner’s reply: not sure how they thought I ordered onions on the side? I did not. Secondly, regarding portion size, I’m not a big eater and I could finish this in one sitting, where all other curry takeout will last me at least two full servings. I’m not sure how they get their intelligence on “other Thai restaurants” but replies like this are not a good look. And yes, I often order Doordash, so that’s my price comparison to portion size. Thanks.
The lady told me they were closed.
Per the sign and online closing time is 2pm. She didn’t even offer take out.
What a waste of time. Businesses really don’t care since the pandemic made it okay to be subpar. One star from me.
Edit: once again, take out was not offered. Maybe you should leave a sign on your door stating Take Out Only after 1:30pm. When I was pulling out of the parking lot your open sign was turned off.
I ran kitchen and owed a small business in the past. What is important is communicating correct business hours and services to the community. Please take into consideration that your customers are driving and spending gas to come to your establishment. There is room for improvement. Have a great day.
If you’re looking for authentic Bangkok-style Thai food with big, bold flavors, Thai Charlie Restaurant delivers every time. My wife and I have been here twice recently, and both visits were absolutely fantastic. The service is friendly, and you can tell they genuinely care that you’re enjoying your meal.
I ordered the Pineapple Curry with chicken—a beautiful balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. I went with the 5-star spicy level (yes, that’s as hot as it gets!), and it was just right. My wife matched me in bravery and ordered the Pad Kee Mao (a.k.a. Drunken Noodles) also at the 5-star spicy level. It came packed with thick, wok-fried noodles, bamboo shoots, broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers, onion, and Thai basil—all tossed in a flavorful garlic sauce that was both divine and, surprisingly, healthy! The vegetables still had that perfect snap, which tells you they know how to cook with care.
We love that you can choose your spice level here—from mild to “bring the fire extinguisher.” For those who like it hot (like us), this place gets it right without losing the depth of flavor.
Overall, Thai Charlie is a gem. Authentic flavors, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere that keeps us coming back for more. Highly recommended for anyone craving real Thai food made with love and heat!
The original Thai Charlie’s was our go-to in town. The ‘new’ owners have put their own spin on the dishes and a have fashioned a great place of their own. I think at some point they could even change the restaurant name to make it wholly theirs.
The server who seated us was very friendly and put us at ease. She brought our menus very quickly and gave us more than adequate time to decide on our dishes. Well, I was the one who needed the time; my wife and son had seen the online menu and already knew what they wanted.
We chose the Crab Rangoon, Fried Calamari, and Pork-Fried Rice (#1 spice) to share. The appetizers were brought quickly and were delightfully hot. The only glitch in the service here was when our server took away the empty dish with the sweet garlic dipping sauce still in the bowl. We still had uneaten Crab Rangoon on our plates. We should’ve told her to leave the dipping sauce but were too surprised to speak out. Note to us to speak out and a note to the server to ask before removing food or sauces from a table.
Our entrees were brought out one at a time and the fried rice was brought out about the same time. I chose the Garlic Delight with Beef (#4 spice) , my wife chose Pad See Ew with Pork (#1 spice) and our son chose Pad See Ew with Beef (#4 spice). My dish was very good with just the right amount of heat for me. Our son is impervious to most hot spices but still liked his dish, and my wife also liked her dish with a hint of spice.
I asked our server what type of meat was in my dish and the cook told her it was ribeye. That impressed me since most Asian restaurants used flank steak. The only criticism I had of the dish was that the ribeye should’ve been seared for extra flavor and texture, but it was still very good. We also noticed that the Pad See Ew was made with rice ribbon noodles instead of the traditional pad see ew noodles (which can be a bear to work with). Not sure why the restaurant made the substitution but I didn’t ask about it.
The servings here are impressive with an abundance of meat along with veggies and noodles. My wife and I also enjoyed Thai Iced Tea. So, delicious food, a delightful server who brought our food quickly which all made for a great wedding anniversary dinner.
The peek-a-boo view of the bay from the window is pleasant.
The old man serving is very friendly, too.
9/2023 The food was delicious, and the girl who works here is super sweet.
There were four of us, and we got the crab ragoons and chicken satay for an appetizer. The mild Tom Kha soup (in a pot) to share between the 4 of us, delicious, and we had some to take home! I wish I had remembered to take a picture of the pot.
They were unfortunately out of mango and coconut ice cream, so I had to settle for the black sticky rice pudding with taro. It wasn’t my first choice but it was good!
They are understaffed, but the pacing when food came out felt fine to us.
The only thing I would change would be to have better serving utensils for the soup and curry. It was a little hard to get the tom kha soup out of the pot (kind of a volcano shaped pot). And you couldn’t spoon a lot of curry on to rice.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Felt very comfortable and had full happy bellies by the end.
