My fiancé and I came here for Valentine’s Day and had such a beautiful experience. The restaurant was full, but the atmosphere still felt intimate with live music and great energy. I tried duck for the first time and it was absolutely delicious — tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The cocktails were creative (the ‘Mi Amor’ was my favorite and even came with a cute bracelet detail!). Everything we ordered was well prepared and the service was attentive despite how busy they were. We left happy and will definitely be back.

We chose to make Valentine’s Day reservations at State Hill Craft because it seemed like one of the few places which were offering their full regular menu. Man were we disappointed.
Importantly, the restaurant did not seem overly busy. We were surrounded by four empty tables for the first half of our visit.
After being sat, it was a full twenty minutes before even being acknowledged. This was not by our server, but by someone dropping waters off at our table. A party of two who was seated behind us and came in after us was greeted first.
We were eventually assigned a server. By this point, we had ample opportunity to know everything we wanted to order. From the ripped and worn menu board (I wish I would have taken a picture), three of the items we tried to order were unavailable– the calamari, the focaccia board, and the wagyu meatloaf. We quickly picked alternatives.
Our app then arrived and we still didn’t have our bar drinks. Those came out at 7:50, which was forty minutes after we were seated.
We tried to thoroughly analyze the side consommé from our birria bao buns, ultimately realizing it had no flavor whatsoever. My roasted duck breast was good, though the accompanying mashed potatoes were only half warm. My gf’s flatbread was good.
Our server did not seem overworked or visibly stressed, just inexperienced. The mix of live singing (which was not good tonight) did not go well with the separate music playing from the overhead speakers. There was no management presence on the dining room side throughout our visit, which seemed surprising for a holiday.
All of the other times we’ve been here felt like elevated experiences worth the $100+ we usually spend. Unfortunately this was not.

Busy restaurant with lovely atmosphere. Our smash burgers were very good but the fried calamari appetizer was so chewy, it was almost inedible. The service was lacking, but it was a busy night. After getting our food, the waitress never came over to check on us until we were completely finished and needed the bill. But it was a busy Saturday night. Luckily, we were able to snag someone else to bring us ketchup. All in all, we’d go back because the burgers were so good, but we’d never get the calamari again.

Delicious food, cocktail lounge/bar atmosphere, and friendly staff! Restaurant is very clean and we can’t say enough how good the food was! We got the Cajun scallops to start, then enjoyed the seafood mac & cheese, the burrata blush, and the billionaire smash burger. Everything was phenomenal. Pasta and seafood were cooked perfectly and the sauces were delicious, and the burger was SO juicy and complimented by the truffle aioli and bacon onion jam. The side Caesar salad was heavy on the fish since they do top it with anchovies, but you could ask for it without them. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

a GENEROUS 3 only because I think maybe brunch is better and we only experienced dinner. the renovations are gorgeous but the menu just doesn’t match up to the atmosphere. 75% of the menu is burgers, flatbreads, and bar appetizers. the dinner menu was limited and pricey. they charge 3% for credit card payments and note on the menu that 3% is less than the fee they pay? I found that interesting since every business has to pay VISA/MC fees. taste wise everything was mid. not worth the prices and service wasn’t anything to write about either. we tried this spot for a birthday but there are much better places in Berks to go to.

The food, drinks, and our waitress, Jody, was wonderful. They were understaff on Vday but Jody was attentive and very apologetic to us. I had the French toast bread pudding with BOGO mimosas (Orange and pomegranate) Everything was wonderful.

Where do I start? Everything about this restaurant was CLASS!
From the host to the bartender, everyone was just great. The food was TOP NOTCH, so gratitude to the kitchen and chef. Our waiter, Michael was one of the best, knowledgeable, professional, friendly and efficient waiters I’ve ever had. We had to get his photo!
The restaurant is sparkling like new and had lots of seating. A fun fireplace, a few TVs in the bar area and just right decor. 2 huge booth that could easily sit 10-12 guests.
Can’t speak highly enough about our time here. Wish it was closer to Newark, DE. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This place was so awesome! My husband and I got all dressed up for a special night out and State Hill did not disappoint! Our waitress Mandy was incredibly nice and helpful! Our drinks were top notch and the food was mouth watering! And the music was so good it just really enhanced the whole experience!

Service was good, the food was pretty expensive for what it was. It depends what you get but sometimes you get very small portion sizes. With some food, the flavor wasn’t all there, but overall pretty good! Pizza that we got was flavorful but very greasy. Cocktails were not priced too bad and they were good! Absolutely wonderful atmosphere too.
