So in my order we got 2 Mushroom Swiss Burgers, 1 double bacon burger, an Apple Dumpling, a Fruity Pebble Macaroon, and creamed chipped beef.
Usually when I go to a place like Coventry Parlor, I order a Mushroom Swiss Burger because it is quite telling of how a businesses menu is if they succeed or fail in cooking a mushroom swiss burger.
Well, somehow this place didn’t just fail, it bombed, BIG TIME. The burger was bland and dry, like it had sat on a frier for far too long and ended up having every ounce of its juices squeezed out of the meat. The mushrooms were cooked to a point where they had a rubbery texture to them. I think the best part of the burger had to have been the swiss cheese and the (crunchy) bun.
My mate had gotten the Double Bacon Burger and had the same issue, a dry flavorless meat patty. The bacon scarily enough was so hard it could’ve busted a denture. Lastly to attempt at washing the bad taste down we had tried to eat the apple dumpling we had bought for desert only for the apples and the center of the dumpling to taste like straight up vinegar.
I would highly reconsider coming here if you want dessert type foods because the ice cream is great.
Service:
The young lady at the cash register was very kind and very respectful so props on that.
Atmosphere:
Definitely a great, albeit small atmosphere. It’s got an old timey charm alot of parlors used to have back in the 90’s. They have a few spots to sit in the front room and a bunch of spots in the backroom.
Outside is a lovely view of the farm fields that sit next doo. A hand full of spots to park.
All in all, I have to give this place a 2 stars because the food was just downright horrible, but the customer service and atmosphere was pretty good.
The total order for everything listed was over 100$
July 2023 – We came for the car show and dinner. I’ve been trying to get here for a meal for 11 years. The chicken salad on a bed of romaine lettuce with ranch dressing was really good. Sloppy Joes were just like our mothers. And the ice cream is all yummy. They have all 3 of my favorites right now and they are so good. Thank you for free samples so I could choose which one I wanted tonight. The wait staff is really nice and attentive. Food comes quickly. So worth the wait if it’s busy.
Service has improved!
