The Food:
Beef with Madeira Wine Sauce and French Fries, $27 – 3.5 Stars
Menu: Sautéed Filét Mignon with mushrooms, garlic, onions, parsley, creamy roti sauce, flambéed with Madeira wine. Served with French fries.
This dish tasted pretty good with the light wine sauce, many mushrooms, and very crispy fries. The beef chunks tasted mostly good with mostly tender pieces. However, my dish (see photo) doesn’t look like their online photo, which is a richer variant visually closer to what a beef bourguignon looks like. I think I missed out on whatever this dish is intended to be. Their pieces of beef are randomly cut in different sizes and shape, irregular and random. My mediocre knife skills can cut more uniform pieces of beef than they did. I like this dish enough but also not hitting the bar.
Fried Banana Side, $8.50 – 4 Stars
Menu: Banana empanada e Frita (Breaded and Fried Bananas)
These fried bananas are under the Sides in the menu. We received unbreaded fried plantains, which is fine with us since we like fried plantains. Their online menu says breaded and fried bananas, and the photo is completely different. I don’t know what this dish is supposed to be.
Brazilian Churrasco, $27 – 2 Stars
Menu: Choice of Beef Coulotte, Garlic Sirloin and Pork Sausage. Served with jasmine rice, Brazilian style black beans (containing smoked pork sausage), potato salad, and farofa. Choice of any meat.
This dish should be amongst their signature dishes. Hubby chose their two beef options: beef coulotte and garlic sirloin. See photo. The tiny piece is the garlic sirloin, which is garlicky but a bit tough. The two bigger ones are beef coulottes which have little flavor (seasonings), both are tough, with thick trims of fat. He said “2 out of 5 stars” with a grumpy face. I fed him some of my food to make him feel better.
The portions are big (even tho it doesn’t seem like it in the last picture) last time I ate here (last pic) I actually had leftovers for another 2 meals hahaha.
This space is bigger than the Queen Anne one, and offers the “Rodízio” all you can eat.
It does take a while for the meats to come and go, but I’ll blame it on the odd time I was over (3pm on a Sunday) and also wasn’t the fullest, but as soon as more tables were filled more options of meat were brought and faster as well.
The sides come quickly (cheese bread is the best) and the waiters were really nice. All Brazilian as well so it’s nice to speak Portuguese to them, they will greet you in English (obviously) but you can always say where you’re from (if you speak Portuguese or even Spanish, we Brazilians love to dabble in the “portunhol”.
Great experience overall, just hoped there more options of cuts of meats, and even some sides. But for the price, it’s really great.
be careful with 3.00% credit card surcharge. I noticed that when I was there 2nd time.
We love meat too much so ordered Brazilian Churrasco Especial and Lamb Steak. Both were excellent. My Lamb Sirloin was very succulent and cooked perfectly as how I preferred (which is raw). I couldn’t have enough of the vegetable and raisins rice! If you like potatoes, you are at the right restaurant because Botteco made many different forms of potatoes, including French Fries, which was super decent, garlic mashed potatoes, pan roasted fingerling potatoes and Brazilian potato salad. All from the TWO dishes we ordered.
SO said his steak tasted good but was served cold. We did have to ask the waiter to give us some seasoning for our steaks too since none were available on our table. That was the two small draw backs from the dining experience. I had never been to Brazil but I could tell Botteco offers an authentic taste. The menu is big here. Can’t wait to come back to try out more dishes.
Also, my husband ordered churrasco special, the maionese, beans and salad that comes with it didn’t arrive.
So all that being said, will not be returning there again.
Firstly, the service was incredibly slow. After being seated and placing our order for the all-you-can-eat option, we waited almost 40 minutes for the gauchos to start making their rounds. This was especially frustrating with hungry and hangry and increasingly rowdy kids in tow. Even the appetizers too way too long! At Fogo, the gauchos arrive almost immediately, ensuring a steady flow of delicious meats.
Secondly, the quality of the cuts at Botteco Brazil wasn’t as impressive as Fogo. While they certainly were tasty, they were generally comparable to Fogo’s “Best of Brazil” cuts, which are their lower-tier offerings.
Finally, the absence of a market table was a noticeable drawback. Fogo’s extensive market table with salads, sides, and cheeses adds significant value and variety to the dining experience.
Considering that Botteco Brazil’s price point was closer to $50 per person, compared to Fogo’s $70, you could make the case that the value is there. However, when Fogo runs their “Best of Brazil” promotion for $39, then that really ruins Botteco’s value proposition.
If you’re craving Brazilian churrascaria in Seattle, Botteco Brazil might be an acceptable choice. You may just be compromising quality and service a little bit.
