Fan-frickin-tastic! We tried this place after rave reviews from my daughter. Started w the salsa which was so fresh and good I literally drank the part that I couldn’t scoop up w a chip! The guacamole was on point as well as the queso dip! I had the shredded chicken chimi and it was stuffed so full of chicken it was incredible. Our waitress Kayla was THE best! She gave us samples of the cantaloupe water (amazing) and hibiscus water (more tart but great!) Made ourselves thoroughly miserably stuffed with sopapilla which were to die for! This will be the only place I will go to get my Mexican food fix!!

We have been going to the Las Vaquitas Mexican Restaurant since Caesar and Connie recruited their family and opened their doors to Derby residents. It’s rare to find a place where the owners are in the kitchen and on the floor making sure every guest feels welcome. The food is incredible and service is professional and friendly. I thought the idea of covering the check of a few of their patrons was a sweet holiday idea. When it happened to us, we were incredibly grateful. Huge thanks to the entire staff for showing their appreciation to a couple of regular customers. Please support this LOCAL restaurant, you will not be disappointed!!!

A family member stumbled across this restaurant last time she was in town, and was in town again for the holidays, so wanted to go back. We had 8 in our party and were seated right away. The hostess was very friendly and helpful the moment we walked in the door. Victor was fabulous with our table. Very patient with us as we decided what to order since it was the first time for most of us. He was extremely attentive throughout the meal, our drinks never ran out and he kept the chips and salsa full. Everyone loved what they ordered. I got the tostada with ground beef and beans and a side of rice. Everything had so much flavor. And it all came out very fast! This will definitely be in our rotation of Mexican restaurants we frequent.

Starting off the chips, queso and salsa were great. After that it went down hill fast. The fajitas came on a warm not hot skillet with no sizzle and almost raw onions. The chicken in the fajitas looked boiled not grilled. The other dish was supposed to have grilled vegetables, they were barely warm and raw. The server didn’t come back at all until they brought the check, didn’t even ask if there was a problem with the mostly two full plates that hadn’t been eaten. This place will be a no go.
Reply to owner response. Yes I did enjoy the main part of my dish and I didn’t say there was anything wrong with it. We could have said something if the server had come back to the table at any time prior to us being done with the experience. This is more about the quality of the service vs the food and your reply is more proof of that.

Great food and great service. Unfortunately had to watch an adult customer behave like a child and treat the staff poorly. The staff handled it better than I would have. Show this place and it’s staff some love. They are awesome.

We drive 20 minutes out of our way for this place! We’ve never had bad service or a bad experience here. Their salsa and horchata specifically are hands down some of the best I’ve had in the state! I’ve been on numerous occasions just to pick up a horchata.
We also love having Karla as a server! We have her almost everytime. She’s a gem!

Very cute little restaurant. The staff was great and the food was even better. The queso was amazing. The salsa was perfect. The carnitas plate was very large and killer. My daughter had the Arroz Corn Pollo and could not even eat half of it. This place is a must. The owner stopped by our table and told us her story of her family and God Bless them. Vaca was a great server and Thank you for your wonderful smile.

***Diamond Review*** This place got an upgraded review. This restaurant is family owned and operated. It has so many things going right. I just had to rave about it. ProTip: ALWAYS ask what they have on the Specialty Menu for the day! This kind of a hole in the wall restaurant. It is smaller. It is consistently busy though! It is very clean. The servers are so friendly, sweet, and good with their service. The food is plated beautifully! They make it look like something you want to eat. The taste of everything was really great! Their chips and salsa are fresh. If you are not a cilantro fan, you may not be too keen on the salsa. Their queso is tasty. The Tacos Valle with the charro beans are *chef’s kiss* DELICIOUS! The owner buys the corn tortillas fresh from Texas. The meats are seasoned to perfection. The charro beans are phenomenal! One thing that is a must try here…The Horchata! It is hands down the best I’ve ever had! Special extra bonus…If you have leftovers to bring home, they give you the cutest, little to go bag ever! It has their adorable cow logo on it! I absolutely loved it! Do NOT sleep on this place! Worth the hype!
