Social Profile:

The Ebenezer is downtown Plymouth’s first and only speakeasy, and one of the few in the Metro Detroit area. Hidden in plain view off Fleet Street and nestled in the basement of the former First National Bank of Plymouth (now occupied by Greek Islands Eatery), its moniker comes from Ebenezer J. Penniman, the first to be appointed president of the bank in 1871. While the tellers, loan officers, and deposit slips are long gone, the former vault still exists as the bar’s private tasting room, equipped with lockers for members and an ambiance reminiscent of the roaring 1920’s mixed in and elegantly spun with today’s 2020 vibe that can be felt throughout the entire space.

Fantastic night out! The atmosphere was such a vibe. From the lounge seating to the cozy holiday decor to the upscale bathrooms, no detail was left unnoticed. The server was beyond delightful. We were celebrating a birthday which we noted on our reservation. They surprised us with a birthday card and branded low ball glass – so incredibly thoughtful. The cocktails were tasty, though pretty expensive. The warm chocolate chip cookies were exceptionally delicious.

My cousins and I hit up The Ebenezer and enjoyed delicious cocktails. The seasonal syrup was a strawberry peach – I tried that with Titos. Refreshing with the taste of real fruit. I also tried the Pineapple Daquiri, which is made with pineapple rum not pineapple juice. It packs a punch! My cousin got a classic Cosmopolitan that she LOVED so much, she ordered too. Our group also tried a few other options and everyone left having loved their cocktails. Thank you!

The speakeasy vibes, were impeccable. We showed up during a festival and had no issue getting a table, I guess it really is Plymouths best kept secret! Friendly staff, fast service. Only giving the food 4 out of 5 because despite being delicious everything was overly salty! As a foodie, former chef and bartender, I felt the cocktail garnish/presentation was weak. Happy to see they have some mocktails on the menu, although some of the cocktails cost less. Overall fantastic experience! Such a cool place, glad we came to try it.

If you want a special experience please go to the Ledger! Maya and Dristin were amazing setting us up for an amazing experience for my parents 60th Anniversary. We had a wonderful table with a special card just sitting down. Mike (our server) was amazing recommending the best dishes and cocktails for our dinner and brought us dessert and champagne for dessert (on the house) and then the staff sent us downstairs to the Ebenezer for an after dinner cocktail and conversation. It was the most amazing special dinner and after dinner drinks. I can’t recommend the Ledger more. An amazing night. Such a special dinner and more!

The Ebenezer has a great vibe and a beautiful atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which really added to the experience. That said, the drinks didn’t quite live up to the price point and flavors were underwhelming, and the cost just didn’t feel justified. It’s a nice spot to check out, but probably not somewhere I’d go regularly for cocktails.

There was a slight misunderstanding with our reservation the other day. Staff handled it immediately and gave us cookies to make up for it. It wasn’t even an important dinner and we really could’ve sat anywhere, but the staff made sure to honor the reservation and helped us have the best night we could. I also came here for my 21st birthday a few months ago, and they helped me get accustomed to drinks and the staff members. This is a great spot.

My wife and I absolutely love this place! We always have great service and the servers are very knowledgeable when my wife, myself, or a guest are indecisive because too many of the drinks sound good.
The atmosphere is perfect and we’ve hosted several large groups without any issue. If I had one negative to say, the DJ can get a little too loud on nights when they’re there.

Cool environment. Feels like you are walking into an old school speakeasy, but with top shelf drinks and excellent food. We had a great time. Portions were generous and definitely shareable. A great place to relax with a cocktail, great food and a chill environment.
