Absolutely the best sushi! We gladly drive half an hour just to eat here and love bringing our friends and family along. I’ve tried countless sushi spots around North Jersey, and this one is hands down the best. The service is always warm and friendly, the food is consistently fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere makes every visit enjoyable. I don’t have a single complaint. This restaurant is absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious, the service was impressively fast, and the atmosphere is charming and cozy. My fiancé and I stopped by after visiting the brewery next door, which made it the perfect spot for dinner. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Incredible sushi and gyoza at Chef Chen’s! Easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Montclair. The sushi was unbelievably fresh, beautifully plated, perfectly cut, and bursting with flavor. Every roll we tried was top-tier, especially the Walnut Street roll and Sweet Heart roll. You can tell the fish is high quality, and the rice is seasoned just right.
The gyoza were a standout too, crispy on the bottom, juicy inside, and full of bold, savory flavor. We couldn’t get enough of them!
The staff is super friendly, the ambiance is relaxed yet stylish, and the attention to detail in every dish really shows. Chef Chen’s is a must-visit if you love fresh, well-crafted sushi and crave-worthy gyoza.

Amazing food! Walnut street has been waiting for a neighborhood izakaya for a while. Chicken katsu set is by far the best in the area and secretly the best thing on the menu. The sushi is top notch and the tofu teriyaki box is to die for. Looking forward to seeing them at this location for many years to come.

If I could give 100 stars I would. When I tell you the sushi and the sashimi was good, IT WAS GOOD! Fresh, clean, and present very well. My girlfriend and I looked for a place in between where both live and Chef Chen’s did not disappoint. I would go out of my way just to get sushi there again. I will definitely go back. YUM!
