Coming from a Mediterranean background, THIS is what real Greek food tastes like. I had the chicken souvlaki and my daughter had the beef and lamb gyro. The souvlaki was cooked to the perfect char grilled perfection. Partnered with tzatziki sauce and a lemon, the portion was perfect. By the end, I wanted to drink the leftover dressing. Absolutely perfect, fresh, authentic and real. No unnecessary fanfare. Just food.

Solid, tasty, Mediterranean food. I’d ordered the grilled chicken brown rice bowl. It was paired with a Mediterranean salad and tzatziki. All of it was extremely delicious. However, the meat was a bit dry. The service was exceptional. The waitress was very kind, there was just construction work being done in the shop while I was having my dinner. There was also assembly of to go food in the front dining area, which was a bit strange. It’s quite busy. There were so many drivers there to pick up food! Not a place that would not recommend dining in, I would definitely order to go. It was great. I would come back here. I think you should too.

I love the food and have always ordered it through DoorDash. This time, I decided to order directly from the website. I always order the same thing, but the order I received from the website had significantly less food especially the fries and pita. It looked like a kids’ portion, even though I ordered for two adults. Unless the portion sizes have changed, it seems like I received less food for the same price I’ve always paid. And when you order through DoorDash, you can at least file a report but if you order directly from their website, there’s no option to file a complaint.

EFI’S Lamb gyro was so amazing!!! Went into this amazing establishment for the first time and was blown away. The food and service was top notch ~ I will be back again. Everyone keeps complaining about serving size etc ~ all establishments have had to adjust their prices and portions and most of us understand that. We all need to make a living, unfortunately it’s a difficult time but never destroy a business only due to the portion you felt was not enough to satisfy your own desires. Continued success from a very satisfied customer!!!!

I’ve never been to Greece (yet) but Efi’s Gyro is pure perfection. I ordered the Chicken Gyro and it was fresh, flavorful, and the portion size was generous. The meat was perfectly cooked, not dry at all and the pita was soft and warm. You definitely have to try Efi’s Sauce; it adds the perfect kick to everything. The fries inside the gyro are a game changer. The STAFF is so kind and loving! Highly recommend!!

I’ve been coming here for years!!! The most authentic Greek food I’ve had here in the states. Everything on the menu is a hit. The food takes about 10 minutes if you order in-person. Everything is fresh, tasty, and quality. There is limited seating indoors but plenty of additional seating outside to immerse yourself in the Montclair streetscape. The owner, Efi, is extremely accommodating and professional. She cares deeply about the quality of food and service. I can’t recommend this place enough. Fair warning though: you will crave Efi’s Gyro after trying it!

The service wasn’t the issue—the food was. We waited about 15 minutes for one gyro, which is surprising considering it’s supposed to be a quick, grab-and-go type of dish. We ordered the pork souvlaki gyro with extra feta for $1.00 and took it home, only to be really disappointed with the quality.
There were only two small pieces of pork souvlaki, four fries, two onion slices, two half slices of tomato, a smear of tzatziki, and feta—all on a stale pita. The pork was extremely dry and tough, the fries tasted like generic frozen fries (tasting a bit too much like Checkers fries), there were barely any onions or tomatoes, and there was no lettuce at all, which you’d expect in a traditional gyro. The tzatziki tasted like plain yogurt with no dill or cucumber, and the feta we paid extra for might as well not have been there. The pita definitely seemed store-bought, not fresh.
Overall, the quality, price, and wait time just didn’t hit the mark. It also completely missed the essence of traditional Greek food on the go. Unfortunately, it doesn’t hold a candle to what a gyro should be.

So confused by some of these negative reviews- my husband and 2 daughters and I drove about 40 minutes to try out Efi’s. The food was delicious, fresh and VERY authentic. Portions were perfect! We are so full! We were lucky enough to meet Efi herself. So sweet and kind! We will definitely be returning for some amazing food! Thank you Efi. Come to Roxbury NJ now

I ordered take out for the first time… it was heaven. Hasn’t had an authentic gyro in years the food presentation and taste was excellent. The feta fries were amazing as well.
