Excellent Mexican food and great service. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered came out hot and tasted authentic. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Portions were generous and prices were fair. Definitely a place we’ll be coming back to.

I really like that they have a salsa bar

This place was great! I stopped down there for lunch and I just had the Speedy Gonzalez lunch special, which is an enchilada and a taco and a side of either beans or rice. I got rice. All of the chips were nice and crispy and light. The bean dip was excellent and their salsa bar was outstanding! The pico de gallo was amazing! Yes, I will be back!

This is a whole experience and I love it. This place has it all: Salsa Bar, Booths, Tables, Guac Cart, indoor seating, outdoor seating. They are open on Sunny days, Rainy days, even amid a Snowpocalypse. The last time I was there, they sang a birthday song and had Balloon Artist!

While all of those are reasons to celebrate it, I would say their service is great. Multiple check-ins from staff, never an empty glass or bowl of chips, and for the price point – it is really affordable for a family. PLUS, the bathrooms are clean!!!

I love visiting this resturaunt and encourage people to check it out when nearby!

Hands down a fantastic place to eat. I’m not the greatest fan of Mexican food in general, but I loved it! Their presentation was 5 star. Oscar makes incredible drinks and the owner graciously came to talk with us for quite some time . What great family environment and family run business. Thanks for excellent service, food, drinks, atmosphere, and conversation . Muy amable , nos vemos pronto!

Mexican Restaurants are generally the same. What sets them apart is the service, the quality of the food, and friendly staff. Puerto Nuevo is one of the best. The food was good, and the portions are huge. I suggest you share an order unless you are really hungry. The dining area is huge, very comfortable. The service was the best part of our meal. We were a large group with separate and interesting orders. Fredi took care of us like a pro.

The new location is spacious, and they are able to seat lots of diners. It was packed on Saturday night. The kitchen and wait staff are well trained. Our service was prompt, and they handled the large crowd well. The food is excellent. Prepared with fresh ingredients, including lots of vegetables and spices. This is one of our favorite restaurants!

The food is excellent and we like to eat here whenever we’re in town. I gave 3 stars for the service only because our servers English was very limited and some things were missed in translation. If we spoke Spanish I’m sure I would have given her 5 stars. She was very pleasant and attentive to our table.

Great food and service. Prices seemed reasonable.
There might have been three drops of tequila in my wife’s margarita. That seems to be a cost saving trend in a lot of mexican restaurants. The other competitor in Elizabethton does.have liquor in their drinks.

Recommend getting a beer or glass of wine instead

We needed a change. We are town residents and we have gone by this place since it opened… And because we always have a favorite Mexican restaurant we’ve never really cared to try another. But tonight wanting to just see different things we decided let’s give it a go and I have to say I’m sorry we put it off so long.

All decent restaurants start off with tortilla chips and I have yet to have any as thin and crisp and hot as the ones that were put on our table. I love a snap and they are super crunchy. The table starts off with a bean queso dip instead of the traditional salsa but they do have a salsa bar with wonderful selections. I tried three of them and my husband tried just the standard salsa and they were delicious and very fresh.

I ordered a house margarita that for the 6.25 price was a piece of art. It was made with cuervo, and had blackberries blueberries strawberry slices and a orchid floating in it. I did not expect that kind of artistry! And it was fantastic.

I ordered a chicken with chorizo dish, churrepollo (sp?). The chicken was exceptionally thin and grilled and very tender with the most non-greasy chorizo placed on top. They use that melted white cheese which unless of a fan of as I am shredded, nonetheless it was perfect. This was served with Spanish rice that has pieces of carrot corn and peas in it. Definitely a level up for plain old rice.

My husband tried the fajita baked potato which was the special for the evening and he got it with chicken. The potato wedges were absolutely piled on with chicken and fajita fixings. And it was delectable.

For the mid price range, we both were stopped and brought home half of our abundant plates.

There were an enormous amount of service staff. We had a lovely young lady, Cheyenne, and she was exceptionally attentive. There was even a house manager who came around twice to make sure everything was good. Apparently running a very top-notch restaurant.

I’m going to suggest if you’re within the area it’s worth the drive. In nice weather they have an outside sitting area and it’s quite pretty.
