Wife had 3 meat chimichanga, she said it was good. Our dishes arrived less then 5 minutes after we ordered, maybe too quick.
I had the Steak Gringo, shrimp was warm at best, fries were smoking hot when they arrived but turned terribly soggy within 5 minutes, should have been cooked another minute or 2, the steak was tough and stringy. It had good marks on one side but nothing on the other. I guess the price reflects the quality of the food a little, but a little more quality time spent preparing it would have gone a long way.
This is the second time we have eaten here since it opened, wasn’t going to come back, but thought we should at least try again.

All meat dishes, the meat is very dry and bland. They desperately need some, any kind of sauce for their tacos. (I literally bring my own). Cheese sauce is nasty. Salsa is straight cilantro and tastes like soap. Waitress was very nice and pleasant. Atmosphere is very warm and comfortable. I just wish the food was good.

Darn! Of the 2 Mex restaurants in town, El Jarocho has definitely been our favorite. Regrettably, over about 10-12 visits, we’ve had increasingly bad experiences. Because of the last two visits, we won’t be returning. Fyi, margaritas are the only tasty drink – 4 or 5 other drinks have consistently been messed up. The drink special today was $5 Mojitos. They were awful – way too much fake chemical mint flavoring (& made w/ vodka – Ha!). The waiter cdn’t understand that we thought there was something wrong w/ the drinks. I asked him to take mine off the bill & ordered a $9 drink instead. My gf asked for a shot of lime juice or margarita mix to try to make hers palatable. The waiter declined those ideas & instead brought 4 lime wedges (& charged us $1.25 ). She still cdn’t choke it down & wanted to order something different, but he never followed up. His shift had ended and a new waitress eventually brought the check. We asked her to please take off the 2 Mojitos (still sitting on the table) but she didn’t understand English & instead brought us 2 carryout cups LOL! She explained she’s the only worker in the entire restaurant & she’s not able to adjust the check. Yet somehow she eventually produced an adjusted check w/ one $5 drink removed.

Went to dinner about 530pm on a Monday. Place had 3 tables with customers. Chips and salsa were good but when salsa was refilled it was poured from a plastic jug. Meh. Two fountain drinks were brought out that were carbonated water. Told the waitress and she stated that she knew they were out of Pepsi. Why would you give it to a customer if you knew it was out? Food was brought out and was hot but very bland. After starting to eat we were already talking about not coming there again and going to Bloomington. This place had a lot of hype but was very disappointing. Step up is eating at the Taco Truck in Pontiac.

I had the loaded chimichanga dinner. I’ll say it was loaded. I had to request a to-go box because it was so filling; something I NEVER do. Excellent experience overall.

Our servers were wonderful and the place seemed clean but a little empty. The food was okay but didn’t really feel like Mexican my fajitas kind of just tasted like bacon onion and peppers no cilantro or lime no other flavors. The food was cooked fine and portions were good

Great atmosphere. I was skeptical as my fiancé is Mexican and I get authentic Mexican food all the time. The food was super! The customer service was excellent! All around great place! Finally, a decent restaurant within 10 miles from home! Great job El Jarocho! We’re glad you’re here! Put one in Chenoa so we have a decent restaurant.
