I recently visited 62 Secret Kitchen near Exchange Place and Grove St PATH, and it was such a pleasant surprise. The food truly feels like authentic Chinese home-style cooking—generous portions, fair prices, and bold, well-balanced flavors. We especially loved the Chongqing spicy chicken, shredded beef with green peppers, dry-fried string beans, and the Sichuan peppercorn pork trotters, all cooked with great technique and depth. A unique bonus is that the restaurant offers free hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing) for guests to wear and take photos, which makes the experience even more fun and memorable. The interior has a cozy Chinese aesthetic, perfect for both dining and photos.

Came here on a freezing day and really wanted something warm. The winter lamb stew was perfect — bubbling hot, comforting, and very flavorful. The lamb was tender, with skin and meat, and the radish and carrots soaked up the broth nicely. It’s Sichuan-style with a bit of heat, but you can ask for mild. Amazing with rice.

Also ordered the shrimp with chives — lots of shrimp, fresh and bouncy, a bit salty but good with rice. Finished with pear soup, which was light and soothing.

Great spot for cold weather meals. Would come back.

Their beef and shrimp hot pot is loaded with ingredients and bursting with flavor. Don’t miss the tender sweet and sour ribs and the spicy green pepper beef, both truly authentic.
What makes this place even more special is the Hanfu experience—you can dress up in traditional Chinese attire while enjoying your meal! Perfect for photos and adding a fun, cultural touch to your dining.
Great location near Grand Ave, generous portions, and totally worth the trip. Highly recommended for a tasty and memorable outing! ✨

Just tried the new Sichuan peppercorn pot and lamb soup pot — both are amazing, full of flavor and perfectly balanced. All the other dishes we tried were also really tasty. The restaurant also offers Hanfu outfits for a fun photo experience while you eat, which makes it even more special. Great spot for both food and a unique experience — highly recommend!

Recommended by my friend and turns out to be very surprising. The food is really good. You can adjust the spiciness and their service is also very excellent. I really like the soy milk! Other dishes are also above average. Highly recommend!

Amazing food which was really fresh and delicious! Definitely going to be coming back to try everything! We had the scallion pancakes which were freshly fried, the pepper chicken (super yummy slightly saltier than I’m used to) and the mapo tofu (also really good the regular is not too spicy next time I’ll do more).

We had lunch here on a recent Sunday. The place was moderately busy. The settings were cozy and the waitstaff very friendly.

It had an extensive menu of Sichuan and Shanghai dishes. With our server’s help, we ordered two dishes, Chicken with fresh chili and Pea sprouts with shrimp. The chicken dish was very good with flavorful boneless chicken and the spiciness we requested. The pea sprouts dish was good too with perfectly cooked shrimp, but the pea sprouts could be more tender.

Overall, we enjoyed our lunch and would definitely be back.

P.S. It’s BYOB.

Been here for lunch and dinner, really fantastic! Lunch deals are especially good, and perfect if you come with small or large parties. You don’t find many places with a large selection of soup noodles. Very dependable place – they also have a free soup dumpling promotion now if you hit a minimum of 38$. Staff is really welcoming and service is great as well.

This restaurant has very authentic Chinese food. Their Peking Duck and Braised Pork Belly is really tasty.
I also highly recommend Osmanthus Milk Ferment Rice for dessert, it is really unique with a fresh floral taste. I’ve never had anything quite like it before!
