The salsa and chips were great. The food was too salty. My Husband and Son both said so..If they would cut down on the salt ,it would be great. I tried the large Jalapeno Margarita, but if it had any alcohol in it,I sure couldn’t taste it. It had a good lemony-lime flavor, but I didn’t taste any tequila at all
Sweet tea was good. Restaurant is located in a small strip mall. I would have liked to hear Mexican music played louder( Sounded like it was just being played in the kitchen)!

I will start with “I don’t like Subway”. So I found this spot hoping to find a hidden gem in Prattville while at work. It was slow and tucked away so it was promising. Chips and salsa were better than average. Order two enchiladas with rice and beans. Got the food, and the rice and beans weren’t bad at all. The chicken enchilada was pretty dry and bland but the beef enchilada had some, not so browned ground beef. I asked for another chicken one but had already lost my appetite. I really was really hoping for something special. Just a little below average. I should have just eaten at Subway.

Update: To address the rude and misinformed business owner. I took pictures the moment I got out of the car because I review restaurants. I wasn’t rude, and I did ask for a chicken enchilada to replace the beef enchilada, and I tipped the waiter without so much as a gripe or complaint. I only have one account so I couldn’t be posting multiple reviews. But I will lower the review from 2 stars to 1 for the expert follow up. The customer is certainly not always right but you should learn to accept criticism and take responsibility.

Came in for lunch about halfway through a road trip and ordered the Enchiladas Cancun (enchiladas with shrimp on top). The restaurant only had a few other people there and it was well-cleaned.
Both the food and service were great; I got my food probably within seven minutes of ordering and the price was very fair. Owners also have good taste in music, lol.
Overall, no complaints. Probably within the top 5 Mexican places I’ve ate at.

If you’re craving authentic Mexican food that feels like a warm hug from your Hispanic neighbor’s kitchen, El Amigo Mexican Restaurant in Greenville, Alabama, is the spot. Located conveniently right off I-65, this place serves up flavors that will transport you straight to a home where rice simmers on the stove all day.

We ordered the double fajitas to share, and every bite was sizzling perfection. The rice and beans were pure magic—those beans? Definitely cooked from scratch with love. Even my son cleaned his plate, devouring a taco with rice and beans like it was his last meal!

The only tiny hiccup was the queso being a bit runny, but honestly, the incredible flavors more than made up for it. This gem of a restaurant is the real deal, and I can’t get over how authentic everything tasted. If you’re ever passing through Greenville, don’t miss this spot!

Great food, flavor, and staff. I was amazed by the amount of dishes that they offered. The staff is awesome and very personable. If you want authentic Mexican food, try El amigo. If you like ceviche, the shrimp ceviche is really good. I prefer fish, but they made a believer out of me. The pozole is slightly salty but the avocado and tostada shells offset the salt. The Chile Colorado was flavorful and delicious.

My husband and I stopped here on our way home from Destin. The chips and salsa were fantastic. Great tasting cheese dip. We each got the fajitas and they were so good and full of flavor. The service was amazing.

Heard some things about this place and decided to go and try it for myself. Glad that I did. Surprised it was empty on a Friday night, but it was Black Friday. Food was great and so was the service, the street tacos we’re very authentic. Will definitely be back and visit often.
