You had me at FRESH CUT FRIES ! I like a real grilled burger not a Flat top burger & this, was definitely a char-grilled yummy burger. Yes, all the trimmings are available & I suggest you go for it ! Fresh cut, freshly made fries are the icing on the burger . A great retro vibe inside & out. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Very family friendly atmosphere, very clean, very fun & good service. I definitely recommend!

Scooby’s is a traditional American hot dog and burger joint. Additionally, they have Gyros, polish, grilled chicken breast, and Italian Beef, to name a few. The decor is mid-century diner with a black and white checkerboard floor and red trim. We got the Gyros Burger and a Gyros sandwich. The burger has Gyros meat on top of the burger patty, with iceberg lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. Tzatziki sauce would have been a welcomed addition. The Gyros sandwich was a typical gyros with tomato onion and tzatziki sauce. We did appreciate the thick slices of riped tomatoes. We also had a bowl of the chicken noodle soup. The soup was an excellent starter to our meal. The outdoor seating to the west of the building will be wonderful in summertime.

Scooby’s in Downers Grove offers great service and authentic Chicago style cuisine. We ordered the gyro meal and a corn dog. The gyro was full of delicious cut from the spit meat and covered with homemade tziki sauce. Delicious hand cut fries. We’ll be back!

I stopped in for the fresh cut fries which were very expensive at $6.99 for a large. They were much more expensive than other fresh cut fries I’ve had such as Rand Red Hots for $3.99, Gene & Jude’s, Frannie’s, etc. While I understand partial frying the potatoes ahead of time, these were dropped for a minute along with left overs sitting in the fry pan being added back to the “new fries” in the fryer. They were dry and tasted more like old oil than potatoes. Maybe their other menu items are wonderful (I’ve had pizza Puffs at a different location which were good) but for fresh cut fries, this is not worth the stop.

Very good hotdogs and fries. The fries are hand cut and fried without a timer. This does cause some fries to be over cooked. Yet, most of the fries are delicious. Not sure when they changed the hot dogs, but they are longer. Still good and have a snap. All the condiments were great.

Very disappointed in the place in general. Food was terrible. Their “fresh cut fries” were black and had no taste. You probably have a better chance getting more flavor out of an old piece of gum. I ordered a hotdog and the bun was cold. There was a green unidentified substance in my hotdog and I have no idea what it was. My hamburger bun was also freezing. I also ordered a gyro and can’t believe that people consider it a “gyro”. My total was 51.00 and I am still hungry.

Food is okay, definitely not worth the attitude and unpleasantness of every single person that works there. I’ve been there 3 times thinking something would change with their attitudes and nothing has. I will not be going back here.

Crown jewel and staple of Downers Grove for years. Great hot dog stand that serves all the favorites. They always give you a healthy amount of fries with your order and they taste fantastic. You can Scooby size your meal and then you get a ridiculous amount of fries. I love their 2 hot dog special with fries and a drink. Bonus, this place has Green River in their fountain drinks. Enjoy!
