Went to Truckee and stumbled upon this amazing gem. Some of the absolute BEST Italian food I’ve had in years. They had an amazing Sauvignon Blanc from France that was so good. The portions were VERY generous along with super stellar service. This place has a hidden hole in the wall feel but in reality it’s truly fine dining at its best. The atmosphere serves for a quiet intimidate dinner or a lively bar with a full menu available. I will be back here over & over for sure!

The food is delicious, and the drinks were handcrafted and made to perfection.
I highly recommend that if you’re heading to truckee to check this spot out.

We always make reservations here for special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries and it is, in our opinion, the best restaurant in Truckee for an upscale meal. The food, cocktails, and staff have never been anything short of delightful. We are sure to order the carpaccio every single time, and enjoy sampling the specials as well. The old, original building provides depth and charm to the overall atmosphere and experience. Our server, Desirae, was a sweet and charming local, an absolute pleasure to chat with. She was very attentive and you can tell she is focused on providing a great guest experience. Can’t wait for our next occasion to visit!

Pianeta is so good we came back the next day to try more food. The entire experience was wonderful and started on our first time dining grabbing a last minute seat at the bar. Ryan was the bartender and our waiter for the evening and what an absolute wonderful host. He started my using his creativity to make me a unique old-fashioned with mixed spirits in my case rum and rye with flavors through the roof!!! We then had the special Caesar Salad which was probably one of the best I have ever had. We then had the Aglio Olio with sausage and angel hair pasta which I am still thinking about. We had the Puddle Cake which is a chocolate desert made with polenta. The second night we had Pasta Bolognese, wine and Salted Caramel Gelato with another Puddle Cake. The service was excellent and the atmosphere relaxing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Friendly staff, great service, and absolutely delicious food made for a wonderful cozy dinner. It can be a little noisy, so I recommend reserving online well in advance—either early in the morning or a few days ahead—because it’s very busy. I’d place it in the medium price range: not cheap, but not overly expensive. If you’re looking for a nice night out, this is your place.

Pianeta is where the night truly turned around.
After putting our name in, we wandered a bit, grabbed a drink nearby, and when we came back, everything just clicked. From the moment we were seated, the experience felt intentional and welcoming.
Maria, our waitress, was fantastic. Warm, attentive without hovering, and genuinely kind. She had a great sense of timing and made us feel cared for without ever forcing conversation. Exactly what you want on a date night.
The atmosphere struck the perfect balance. Cozy, lively, and intimate enough to feel special without being stuffy. You could tell the room was full of people enjoying themselves, but it never felt loud or rushed.
Dinner was excellent, and more importantly, the experience felt complete. From service to pacing to vibe, Pianeta delivered the kind of evening you hope for when you make the drive to Truckee.
We left happy, relaxed, and already talking about coming back. Pianeta will absolutely be on our list next time we’re in town.

The food was amazing, and the service was friendly and attentive. This restaurant has changed my view of dining in Truckee, and I plan on coming back.
Had the Caesar Salad with added anchovies, Dish of olives, Bruschetta, Pasta Bolognese, and the special Pork Osso Bucco. Would gladly eat any of those dishes again. Chocolate Panna Cotta was good, but was eclipsed by the fantastic Vanilla Gelato.

We visited lake tahoe a couple of weeks ago staying with friends and decided to eat downtown , we stumbled across this Italian restaurant. As soon as we walked in you could smell the beautiful aromas of italian cooking . We had not made a reservation so we had a 30minute wait but It Was Definitely worth the wait .
The food was delicious, the best ravioli I have had ever tasted and I have dined in the best in London UK but this little Gem of a place beats them all hands down , from the attentive greeter at the front of house the minute we walked in …to the Chef Smiley making our Wedding anniversary so special bringing out a chocolate dessert .
We will definitely be returning to this place .
