Stumbled upon this family owned Japanese restaurant as I was walking around town. We were greeted and seated by a lady who explained to us about the 3 different ways of ordering. We chose to order through the tablet and it was super easy. There’s also booth seating, but it looks like it suits to seat 4 people. The ambiance is nice – not too bright and not too dark. They have a good selection of food from rice dishes, sushi, ramen, and many more. They also have lighter and sharing meal options. They are reasonably priced too. I ordered their summer special sushi for $29 and it was super filling! Nice and big sushi – delicious! What a shame I live in Auckland, but I would def come back here once I visit again. I highly recommend.

Super friendly staff and super tasty dishes.
The customised temaki rolls were so fresh and delicious. Ramens were delicious and the karaage chicken and katsu curry was perfect.
The beef tataki was also amazing- almost polished off before I could take a photo, I only managed to take a photo of the dish half eaten. It was so good we almost ordered a second serve of it!
A lovely restaurant with authentic setting.

My wife and I traveled to New Plymouth and saw this Japanese restaurant recommended by others. We didn’t have high hopes, but on our first night, we each ordered a bowl of ramen. Wow, it was delicious! On our last night in New Plymouth, we went back and ordered ramen and fried chicken again; it was very good. We’ll definitely go back again if we have the chance.

Our family visited New Plymouth over the labour weekend and we were so happy we ate here. The sushi and katsu curry were one of the best we’ve had. The spicy ramen that my husband had was also very good! I just wish New Plymouth is not a 4 hour drive from Auckland as we would like to eat here again 🙁

Pleasant experience. Free miso soup available on purchase with other stuff, might be an acquired taste but I enjoyed. Food was very fulling, pricey but to be expected when eating Salmon, it’s actually pretty reasonable considering.
Service was good easy access for all people of life.

It’s always good to have reservation prior going because I did walk-in we got the last table on Sunday so consider lucky there still a seat for us .Price is reasonable like Auckland.the Sushi train only available on certain period(which is sad as I really like the to eat sushi on the train belt),Thier Ramen soup based is all pork broth and no udon there. I wanna try Nabe but unfortunately when I was there is fully sold out. No choice so I go for basic which is curry but it’s a big portion not to mention there is classic pickle as well which taste crispy or should crunchy either of it. Thier (I should call ala-carte ,I guess) sushi is big really big portion but taste really good. Got to say they are not so stingy with the salmon egg as every dishes had it as a side dish display on top of the sushi. The scallop and salmon sushi so good as the scallop dipped with tempura make it so crispy and the salmon was juicy as well and perfect presentation of the display.the salmon sashimi (I forgot what is the dishes name) taste so good with the green sauce n the roe . The katsu curry gravy is lots like I said they are not stingy the gravy can be fully cover up the rice and still have extra to dip with the chicken as well (why I said so because I try one in Wellington and the gravy are so so less ).the vibe are chill n very classy authentic and they have japanese custome as well. opss I forgot to take picture of the menu was too hungry from travel.

We ordered the Kaisen Ramen and Tokyo Shoyu Ramen—both were delicious. However, the wait time was nearly 40 minutes, which is unreasonable given the place wasn’t busy and had enough staff. Even fine dining is faster. If you’re hungry or in a hurry, this place isn’t recommended.
