A really good place if you’re craving for Chinese foods! Love the crab rangoon and also the mongolian beef! Place is a great little restaurant.

We enjoy dining at this restaurant, especially since they offer a buffet on certain days. The food is excellent, and the staff, including the owners, are very kind.
Also you eat for almost $11 at their buffet.

Not sure what’s going on. The owners whom I usually see weren’t there the last time we stopped in for dinner. I didn’t recognize the people running the restaurant. Food quality seems to be dropping off, which is sad because I typically enjoy their food and having the buffet regularly is convenient now. Unfortunately, I feel like things are beginning to slip and I am capable of making just as good if not better Americanized Chinese food at home for less. Now going to the restaurant is more of a convenience thing rather than getting quality food.

Third try at this place, last try. Very little food in the buffet and what was there was not at required temperatures. This WILL make someone sick! One positive was the young lady at the register. But we are done with this place.

Had take out version of beef pepper steak. Was OK, but had an odd flavor. Wasn’t the traditional soy sauce flavor, but rather it had an “earthy” flavor. Unsure what was added, but not a fan.
No problem with service.

It’s a small place. The food is good, buffet is small. I get plenty to eat from the buffet tho. I’ve been there a couple of times now. Once it wasn’t busy and once it was very busy. They have carry out as well.

This little Chinese restaurant sits on the square in Lawrenceville IL. Its a buffet so it’s easy to have a quick meal if you need it. I drove 35 minutes to Hunan Garden. Its worth the drive for lunch.

My wife is Asian and we have been to so many Asian restaurants. I’ve lost count and this is hands down the best food I have ever had! Always fresh made to order. Even the buffet is always fresh!!!!!

This is the latest iteration of this restaurant under new owners.

The dishes are well made, not heavily Americanized. Less sugars are used and not over-sauced. You can taste the food!

The dine-in dishes are presented well, and take-out holds their flavors and crispness.

Prices are normal, and portions tend to be on the large size. You also have the options to have half size portions.

I think you must give them a try and you will come back for more!

This is a growing business that has plans to renovate and increase the menu size and selections.
So your continued business is much needed to help them succeed in their future plans.

Update 7/19/25:

I was disappointed in my meal. The quality has dropped off. The appetizer platter was over cooked, almost burned.
I had Hunan Shrimp. Even though the shrimp were abundant, the sauce was all wrong. Not a Hunan sauce. I thought that however it was made, it had too much soup base in it . Then the Lo Mein was over sauced with the same bad sauce!

So was it a bad night or a new chef?
Also, stop using frozen peas and carrots in your fried rice. All the fast food, cheap Asian places do that!
Use onion, green onion, bean sprouts, egg, napa cabbage…any combination of them …

If this type of less superior cooking continues I will has to stopped recommending your food. Please go back to making superior food correctly and find the dragon’s breath again!

As always, if you enjoyed my review, don’t forget to “Like” my review.
Thank you.
