This place has got one of the biggest, best darn burros you’ll ever see and taste! Also, from looking at the other reviews and pictures it appears that all the other meal portions are large and delicious as well!
I personally had the green chili beef burro one night, and the Maria breakfast burro this morning and they were both so tasty, full of awesome stuff and I feel so full!
Whether you are traveling from Phoenix to Hayden / Wilklemen on 177 or from Mammoth to Globe on 77, this restaurant is a must stop & try!
Aside from being one of the only Mexican restaurants in the county, and it being less than a 1/4 mile from the only place you can fill up gas for miles, it’s just too good to pass up! So I 100% recommend that you fill up your tank, and tummy the same time!
Oh, and while I have your attention, please check out one of my latest movies “Moon Valley Quest” that we filmed in and around Hayden / Winklemen while you head down the road. It’s family friendly and you can find and stream from your phone or tablet on Amazon or Fawesome!

This place was EXTREMELY unprofessional. I am a tourist who loves to try new places and I was really excited when this place was recommended to me from my grandfather(rip). Upon arrival everything seems to be going great. A really cute restaurant on the side of the highway. Walking in the employees were messing around with each other and practically wrestling. After sitting it took 10 minutes before anyone came to the table and then another 10 minutes for the water we had ordered to arrive. And that’s when the downfall started. The waitress comes speed walking up and starts stumbling and like every actions slow motion movie scene you could witness it, You could envision it. She spliced every single water all over the table and like Niagara Falls it spilled all over me and my pregnant girlfriend. Extremely unprofessional in the way it was handled. Never ever coming here again.

This is an absolutely amazing hidden gem in Kearney-Winkleman. The food was so fresh and made to order. The home fries were sheer perfection. I review a lot of places and to be perfectly honest Maria’s has the best breakfast I have had.

This is probably a 3.5. grilled chicken taco was good. Fish was not seemed like fish sticks that had been sliced up. Shredded chicken burrito was decent. Only chicken , no other ingredients. Portions were a good size burro was large.
Service was the main issue. Didn’t really check on us and glasses were empty most of the time. Mine did get refilled once. My wife’s was not refilled and was empty for most of our meal.
Chips were in a small plastic bowl, wrapped in plastic. They did not seem to be very fresh.

An excellent example of a long-time restaurant that holds its own thanks to a caring owner and staff. The Mexican food here has always been tasty and the portions are larger than I need. Hungry? If you’re passing through, time your travel for lunch or dinner and you will continue your tour smiling and content.

Impressive to see one waitress deliver excellent service to a packed restaurant. We really enjoyed the food too! Affordable prices, huge portions and every dish was delicious! Order anything with carne asada and you’ll leave more than satisfied.
