Thai Purple has always been one of our fave Thai restaurants in the SGV – they have the BEST crab rangoon around, we’ve loved almost everything we’ve tried over the years, the staff are always warm and welcoming, it’s a great location, and the prices are consistently decent for the area.

Their curries are always fresh and tasty – they have all your typical Thai curry varieties (green, red, yellow and others – and you can adjust your spice level), they use fresh veggies, and their meats are good quality. They have great lunch specials that include an excellent veggie soup and the curries come with a generous amount of rice.

Their pad see ew is also another winner here. Perfect consistency in the noodles, a delectable sauce, and the veggies are tender and delicious. It’s my go-to dish here when I’m not in the mood for curry.

I also love their tea varieties! On our last visit I tried their red date tea – it’s brewed with longons (similar to lychees) and red dates – it’s got an incredible flavor and is the perfect amount of sweet. A great dessert option if you want something lighter – and it’s caffeine free so it’s a nice post-dinner drink. I’d come back here just for this lol.

I love the vibes too – it’s very cozy and warm – like eating at an auntie’s house lol. Plenty of tables but also booths too and they have a nice fish tank at the front entrance.

The location is perfect for a date night – they’re right across the street from the movie theater in the main part of Alhambra. We used to come all the time when we lived closer years ago and were happy to see that they’re still going strong after all this time!

They have plenty of free parking in the garage located in the back and a back entrance right across from it. The area is very walkable – definitely a great option in Alhambra!

Racist
I’ve ordered several times via postmates and the food was mixed good and ok. But I ventured to eat in and was rudely and disrespectfully treated due to my skin color. They prefer Asian clientele. And due to my brown skin they refused to make my food unless I paid first. She said for her own protection. I’m like what I just came in. The main the Asian man did not have to pay first. I just had came from shopping at Ross and Sprouts and had my bags with me. I guess because I’m a person of color that Judy decided that I didn’t have any money.

And asked her where is it posted to pay first? She took me to this sign about I have the right to refuse service.

I was talking with my manager I’m a supervisor where I work. And he’s like leave they’ll do something to your food.
I
I told her I wanted to speak to her manager Ben Young she said.. and called him.
After I showed my government i.d. she said oh you can order.

As I told her I now refuse your service and showed her big bills I had I told her Judy you’re a racist.

Then she called more Asians out from back as I left

I don’t curse nor did I even raise my voice.

Just beware just is definitely racist if you’re a person of color just don’t go here

The food is great! They are willing to make any dish as spicy or as mild as you like. I am always delighted by the teas. Try the fruit tea and the rose garden tea, which are brewed via French press at your table. Pad Thai and curries are predictably delicious. Service is friendly–and quick, which is a nice feature when you’re dining before a movie across the street at the Edwards cinema.

Genuinely the worst Thai Food I have ever tried, I’ve never ordered food from a place and received 90% vegetables, 9% watery sauce and less than 1% meat. Had to pull out my magnifying glass to count the 5 strands of meat that are smaller than a paperclip

I was craving Thai food and this was a great spot I came across.

I ordered their chicken satay and yum yum tofu extra tofu. The chicken satay was juicy and flavorful. The peanut sauce was excellent.

The yum yum tofu was my favorite and highly recommend it even as an entree. It’s fried and the sauce is what makes it phenomenal. Their pad Thai is delicious and a little on the wet side, I prefer dryer noodles but still pretty good.

I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.

Davina was our server and was great. She explained all the ins and outs of the menu and was attentive throughout the meal.
When it comes to the food, it was all super delicious. We mostly ordered lunch specials and a special soup of coconut, we ordered orange chicken, fried calamari, fried spring rolls, shrimp fried rice, and more.
For desert, we had the mango sticky rice that was surprisingly good it reminded me of arroz con leche.
Overall, it was a great experience, and I definitely recommend it!

We have passed by this restaurant in Alhambra many times and never had a chance to try it. Since it’s just a stone’s throw away from the bustling Edwards Cinema, We decided to have lunch here before going to a movie.

Thai Purple offers a culinary escape to the vibrant streets of Thailand. As we stepped in for a quick lunch, the restaurant’s royal purple theme immediately caught our eye, a nod to the regal hues of Thai tradition.

With a lunch menu brimming with Thai favorites, our time constraints led us to select two classic dishes: the Green Papaya Salad and Pad Thai. The salad was a refreshing burst of tangy and spicy flavors, a perfect appetizer to whet our appetites. The Pad Thai, on the other hand, was a delightful journey to the street food stalls of Bangkok, with its authentic taste and perfectly balanced spices.

While the decor may hint at yesteryears, it adds to the charm of Thai Purple, making it feel like a well-loved and established spot for those in the know. The ambiance is cozy, inviting diners to relax and savor their meals in a no-rush environment.

The food, while not groundbreaking, was satisfying and true to its roots. Service was efficient, ensuring we were well taken care of without feeling rushed, despite our time constraints. And for those driving, the convenience of parking in the back is a welcome feature in the often-crowded streets of Alhambra.

In conclusion, Thai Purple stands as a testament to the simple pleasures of Thai cuisine. It may not be extraordinary, but it’s the authenticity and the comforting atmosphere that will beckon you back, time and time again.

It’s been couple of years that we haven’t come to the Thai Purple eating great Thai food. I remember they have Pad Thai Tuesday for $3,99 but now it’s $6,99 we stop at the restaurant tryout the food again and remember those great flavors in Thai food. It looks the same since the last time we have dinner at the restaurant with family. We came at the right time they were serving lunch until 5’o clock it end but it also Pad Thai Tuesday for $6.99. We decided to the mint chicken and Pad Thai with chicken then the waitress brought the Pad Thai with chicken with rice full of flavor in the mint chicken and also very good flavor that wasn’t spicy that other mint chicken from other Thai restaurants. She brought the Pad Thai with chicken very good season well in spices and the chicken was cook and season well. The service was pretty good. We need come back again soon.
