Let me start by saying I love Salpinos so it pains me to leave this review! That being said, I call them last week to reserve 2 loaves of the Italian Twist bread like I do when I order a turkey for Thanksgiving. The girl informed me they do not take orders unless you’re also doing catering? Really??? So buying an unprepared turkey is catering! I don’t think so. Anyway, we get there when they open at 8am, and there’s a line which wasn’t a surprise. 6 people in, this guy orders 40 LOAVES of twist bread…and THEY LET HIM!!!??? WTH???? Are you friggin kidding me????? This pretty much wipes out their entire inventory. So…2 things – HOW do you let ANYONE buyout your entire inventory of 1st come 1st serve bread???? HOW!!!??? The DUMBEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN!!! No one has a family THAT BIG that they need 40 loaves. 2nd thing, so aside from keeping that in mind, I have to draw this conclusion, this guy must be reselling this bread…and Salpinos let them!!!! SHAME ON YOU BOTH!!! This guy was definitely gaming the system and was allowed!!! Thanks for partially ruining our Christmas Eve!!!! Great job! Now how about CHANGING YOUR POLICY TO GIVE EVERYONE A AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET WHAT THEY NEED!!! SET A MINIMUM AND LET US PREORDER SO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH TO MAKE AND WE ALL CAN ENJOY OR HOLIDAYS!!! So disappointed in Salpinos! SMH…

Great bakery for Italian pastries. We were sent here to get a selection of Italian pastries and everything was good. The selection isn’t huge but the quality is there. The shop has the fresh bakery that makes really good Italian pastries and cakes. Then they also have a ready to eat deli with a nice selection of meats, vegetables and antipasto’s. The grocery section was a little shabby (that is the reason for the 4 stars) and I would only go to the grocery section if I didn’t have time to go to a bigger market or if I needed some specialty item. The meat counter looks fresh but we haven’t tried anything from there. I would recommend this place for the bakery/pastries but the rest I would give a pass.

Recently ordered a sandwich with their homemade turkey. It was amazing. Salpinos has the Best sandwiches in town!! Amazing quality and my order was ready very quickly!

The worker walked from the raw food counter to the cooked food counter and wanted to use the same gloves he touched raw meat with! Then pretended to change them when I asked him to. No one should have to ask for an employee to change their gloves while handling food! Totally unacceptable!

It is amazing how this family owned business keeps the consistency and quality of their brand no matter which store you go to. In particular, like Dix Hills, the bakery stood out to me here. If you’re looking for a one stop shop for any occasion, this is the place!

I can’t say enough great things about salpinos. When walking in on a Saturday the line alone will tell you how much people enjoy their food. Don’t let the line deter you away. They’re fast! The zucchini frittelli is my favorite side dish. My husband loves their chicken meatballs with escarole. If I’m with my kids they’ll give them a cookie (no charge)! Great Italian food market. Highly recommend!

I used to love coming in there for their homemade tomato and basil sauce. Recently it seems like they are adding hot sauce. I’m unable to eat it anymore. I thought tomato and basil was just the basics sauce.

This place is amazing. Edwin, Rosario and the best for last Larry! Great people I come in all time just to talk to them and then I walk out with half the store! It’s a must try, best italian market in the area. Forget about Uncle whatever it’s called this is the real deal and the place to go.

Our family has ordered the dinner special many times over the years. We ordered it this week, and I won’t be ordering again. The woman who took the order was so nice, helpful too. The food was such a disappointment. I’m fairly certain the tray size has gotten smaller or more shallow, but I’m not positive. The Caesar salad was a very thin layer, not even covering the tin bottom, of chopped lettuce. There was shredded cheese on it. Completely covering the tin were croutons( much too large for a salad). It was basically a tray of croutons. The baked ziti was fairly dry. The sausage in the sausage and peppers was also dry, possibly over cooked. In the past or was delicious and a very good deal.
