Food was delicious. It was an experience. Would I go back? Probably not, but ONLY because its just too elevated for my simple, down home palette. Again delicious, just not my cup of tea.

I traveled over an hour with a group of friends to visit The House of William and Merry for our annual holiday outing and trip to Longwood.
From the moment we walked in the door, I was impressed. The food, the service, the atmosphere – all of it was fantastic.
First – let’s start with the staff. Ive been to a lot of restaurants over my life and can say that I dont know if Ive ever encountered an all around A+ staff and service. Every staff member – from the gentleman who warmly welcomed and sat us, to our knowledgeable and attentive waitress, to the talented Chef and his supportive staff bringing the food to the table – were top notch. You could tell they really enjoyed their jobs and were proud of what they did. Our waitress seemed to naturally address every question or need before we needed to even ask it of her.
Next, the food. Some may find the menu a bit exotic, but everything was incredible. For apps, we tried the tasty foie gras tower, the smoky pork belly, and a special lamb tartare. A few of us got the Loaded Potato Bisque. After sharing all the apps, we knew we were enjoying a gem. For entrees, a few of us got the diver scallops which were served with potatoes, carrots and celery and two tasty purees and a crema foam. A couple of the others got Beef and Butter Noodles and the Pan Seared Black Bass. We all raved about our meals. To finish it off, we enjoy some dinner drinks with the Nutty(kind of like Snickers) mousse and the apple fritters along. The dessert and drinks were also all around amazing.
Finally, the atmosphere. The home that this restaurant is in added warmth and comfort to the experience. We sat in the upstairs dining room and appreciated the slight holiday decor and classic style.
I am incredibly impressed with all aspects of this restaurant and highly recommend it! I hope to return again soon!

Great place. Foos is always tasty AND interesting, and service is welcoming and good. Their duck breast is fantastic – we get it every time. Foie Gras was better than the one I tried at other places. We also ordered Kaluga Caviar Seared Scallops. Scallops were great overall, but I felt that black caviar was not really adding much to the dish in terms of taste – just making it a bit more salty and not standing out, but simply blending with the taste of scallops and getting lost in it. We tried Pork Tenderloin and Waguy Flank Steak this time and liked both.

What a great family run restaurant. We sat at the bar which has a great view of the open kitchen! Great cocktails and amazing food.

Incredible dining experience. I’d go again just for the ambiance alone. The colonial home converted into a restaurant (which the owners actually still live in) feels so welcoming. There is a downstairs and an upstairs, and I sat downstairs so I can only speak on what I experienced. It was quite small but very cozy. I love a small restaurant. It feels…. Warm? Hospitable? It’s just nice to feel close. The food was impeccable. Our server was also very patient and kind with us. Service got a bit slow when we were trying to leave, but it seemed like a bunch of tables left at once so I can’t complain. They treated my 93 year old grandpa with such care and compassion. It was a wonderful experience all around. I will be back.

Place was absolutely delicious. Every dish. Every cocktail to the wine. Service and ownership unlike any other. What a hidden gem in Delaware. Highly recommend as I’ve eaten at most James Beard nominees in the Philly area and Chicago area. Duck was amazing. Deserts were amazing. Apps were fantastic as well as the cheese board! WOW absolutely fantastic!

My first visit to the House was fantastic! The dinner was exceptional, starting with several appetizers like the pork belly and the crab and shrimp hush puppies. For the main course, the duck was absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!

This restaurant delivered, without question, one of the best meals of my life. Maddie, our server, was absolutely phenomenal so exceptional she could write the book on what it means to be a truly great waitress. Her detailed descriptions of each dish were so vivid that I could practically see the food before it arrived at the table.
The food itself was nothing short of perfection. The octopus was the best I’ve ever had—cooked better than anywhere else in the world I’ve tried it. Every single dish was executed flawlessly. Whoever is behind the scenes in that kitchen deserves every award imaginable for creating food of this caliber.
This is a meal I will be thinking about for many years to come.

Came to celebrate a special double date. We loved everything we ate. The dishes were not only beautifully put together but delicious and well balanced. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like. We ordered the catch of the day, beef, and pappardelle for entrees. For appetizers we got the winter salad, gnocchi, scallops, and deviled eggs. For dessert we ordered one of each of the desserts. Not too sweet and delicious. The cocktails were also solid. Truly an all around great dinning experience. The ambiance is nice but not pretentious. The servers were kind and the food was paced out well. Would definitely return here!
