My husband & I celebrated our 28-year wedding anniversary here for the very first time. The atmosphere is very intimate and charming and very conducive for romance. The tables set just right and there are low lighting and a little battery-operated candle on each of the tables. My husband & I was treated so nicely, the staff was very attentive and caring.
The meal I selected was chicken Marsala, which was so delicious and abundant! which I thoroughly enjoyed.
My husband selected the braised beef, which was abundant in size, but it is an acquired taste, that we did not acquire. We did not like it.
Other than the beef issue, everything else was fantastic!!
we loved the restaurant and the environment, along with the awesome tasting tiramisu, which was so yummy!
We highly recommend this restaurant for the food and the accommodation.

Located in Morgan Square, right around the corner from the famous Spartanburg mural, is this quaint Italian eatery that serves up excellent dishes and impeccable service. Sophia’s is a gem. The food is fresh, the beverage options are plentiful, and it is priced appropriately for the offering they provide. It’s a wonderful place to celebrate, enjoy a date night, or dine outside and take in the downtown views when the weather allows. We always enjoy our time here…and you will, too! (Be sure to get dessert!!)

My hubby & I stopped in prior to seeing a show at the Memorial Auditorium on 12/17/24 and it was a nice experience.
We were greeted promptly at our reservation time of 5PM & seated near the entrance. I do not recall our waiter’s name but he was fine and took our order promptly. What stuck out is he didn’t tell us his name nor did he go over the evening’s specials but did so with the tables near us that were seated after us (and funny enough, what I orderes was a special that night and he never said anything…)Seemed odd and made his service to us seem impersonal.
The fresh bread & oil was good for me but hubby found the oil to be a bit too bitter & green for his tastes.
I had the lobster ravioli and hubby had alfredo pasta with sausage and mushrooms, both dishes we really enjoyed.
For dessert, we shared an order of chocolate coated cream puffs which were just the thing to top off dinner.
Hope to stop in again soon!

Tonight with the recommendation of my peers we decided to try sofias. Its a quaint restaurant and you were greeted at the door and immediately sat at a table in the back. The place is small but gave the feeling of being in Italy. We were excited. The waitress comes and asks what we wenwoupd like to drink and order. The menu is small but authentic. Next comes our drinks we received 10 minutes later. At the 20 minute mark we receive some bread. At the 40 minute mark we received our appetizers and over an hour later we received our entrees, but before we got our entrees I hear our waitress explain the specials of the day and I was like WAIT!!!! THERE ARE SPECIALS??? one of them is a short rib which is my favorite. So now im upset bc I would have ordered that. So I kindly ask them to change my order and they did so kudos to them. Not only did I they give me the short ribs but they gsve me my original order too. What upsets me is thar our waitress never told us there was a special we can order from. Our food came out painfully slow and to top it off our waitress asked us if we wanted drinks to go and guess what….. we never got them so we left.
Food… impeccable
Service ….. awful
Atmosphere was better than average.
Its defintely worth a try but expect horrible service and slow food.

The food and service was absolutely excellent. We were a walk in and ordered appetizers at the bar then our table became available and the servers carried over everything to our table and set it all up. After that the service continued to impress. The food was very fresh and well presented. I will be coming back soon.

This place was amazing. My husband brought me here for my birthday and everything about the restaurant was great. The service was phenomenal. Our waiter helped with our selections which everything suggested was great. We had the Meatballs for appetizer. The sauce was really good and I enjoyed it with the bread. I had the lasagne which is a must try and he had the fettuccine and sausage. For dessert which we got to go, the tiramisu was delicious.

My sister wanted to go we made reservations whilst we walked dogs. Hostess, manager and the runner were prompt and delightful. We were having a great time catching up. However, my chicken masala was salty and I made mention to our waitress and wherein she rolled her eyes. All of us saw it. We are 3 beautiful black women.
We said nothing yet decided that her tip was going to be low.
Manager immediately came and he asked me if I wanted something else…marinara sauce a little spicy. Laaaawdy they dumped the red pepper flakes in my dish. We continued laughing requested takeout plates and then left after leaving $6 and a note to the waitress. Never again…nor recommend.

We love Sophia’s. We have been coming ever since they opened. food is always consistent and delicious. Service is very attentive and they seem they all work together. We ended sitting at the bar many time as they have limited sitting for two people. The chairs are very comfy. will be back soon.

Ok so, we had no reservation, not a ton of money and no idea this place was so fancy. We did have to wait about 25 minutes for a table, and ended up getting done right before close but we never felt rushed and enjoyed our time! It was absolutely amazing! The teamwork of the staff was on point for a busy holiday (Valentine’s) the food was a good quality, a good portion and felt very much worth the price,($20-30 plates) and they were so good to us i wish we could have afforded more of a tip! Every waiter and waitress that went by made sure we were okay, our waitress came back every few minutes and was super nice! We each had only water and i think it was way better than soda would have been, I’m just sorry we couldn’t try any wine. The bread we had while waiting was good, I had the chicken parm ($26)with penne, and my bf had chicken Alfredo($19), our respective favorites and it was amazong, we like to try new places and was the best yet! I ordered a dessert, Bombone?($9) A donut with hazelnut and chocolate drizzle, warm and not too sweet, everything was so delicious! They had a rose for each table to take home and specials for the holiday, we just stuck to our favorites. I highly recommend this place for any date night, or anyone looking for authentic Italian food and experience. We plan to go back in a few weeks to try more, it’s a little bit more expensive but it genuinely felt worth it and i grew up and still live with less than great income so that’s saying something! Im just not happy my phone couldn’t take better photos im sorry guys! But it was wonderful they made my Valentine’s a really special night. Thank you Sophia’s!
