We absolutely love the Blue Elephant Thai restaurant!
The food is amazing!
The people that work there are wonderful and the environment is delightful.
I love how the ceiling is painted.
We’ve been there two or three times and each time it has been amazing!
Highly recommend!

Food is overpriced.I ordered the coconut soup and it was $14 which I thought would at least be a decent size bowl, but ended up being a cup. Normally fresh spring rolls have a decent amount of shrimp or chicken, with a decent amount of fresh veggies like cilantro, carrots, etc and these ones did not. Also did not come with peanut sauce. For getting cup of soup, spring rolls and crab rangoon and a drink the total was $46.

We were in town and craving authentic Thai food—Blue Elephant did not disappoint! The flavors were bold, fresh, and true to traditional Thai cuisine. Every dish was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. The staff was welcoming, and the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a genuine Thai dining experience!

For those who may not be familiar, the Blue Elephant is widely known as a symbol of an exceptional Thai restaurant, representing authenticity, tradition, and high-quality cuisine. Because of this reputation, I was very excited to dine here and immediately began ordering several dishes that I used to enjoy regularly when I lived in Thailand.
Unfortunately, it became apparent right away that the food was not truly authentic. The noodles, for example, were not the same type you would expect in a traditional Thai dish, and the overall preparation and flavors did not match what you would find in Thailand. This was particularly disappointing given that a restaurant using such a well-known symbol of Thai cuisine should be serving genuinely authentic food.
Another issue was the extra charge for additional sauce. While it’s common for restaurants to charge for extras, some of these dishes naturally require more sauce than what is initially provided. Being charged extra for something that should already be part of the dish felt a bit unfair.
That said, the food itself was still enjoyable, and you can’t really go wrong with the quality. However, for someone looking for an authentic Thai dining experience — especially one that lives up to the Blue Elephant name — this restaurant falls short. Because of that, I likely won’t be returning.
Also the restaurant needs an updating as well as cleaning the tables thoroughly as we noticed that the tables were outdated and not clean properly (sticky surface)

We complained once after finding a hair in our food and then ordered takeout one day to try again and they recognized us and served us a half empty container of broccoli stir-fry. The staff is weird and holds grudges. Really poor experience for a place that charges as much as they do.

Great place for fresh, healthy, and tasty food. What you see here is the papaya salad, Tom yum soup with shrimp, and traditional pad Thai. All delicious!
The menu has healthy options clearly marked to help you make positive choices.

The food tastes great and they have very decently sized portions. Their appetizers are good for sharing between 2-4 people. I especially liked their veggie spring rolls, the vegetables in them taste so fresh and the dipping sauce just adds to the great taste. My favorite dish is the shrimp fried rice. They also do take out orders. I would just say that their service is a little slow. Other than that an overall great place and would recommend.

Hello, my Celiac and gluten-free friends. This week I’m in Iowa City and we went to Blue elephant. Let me tell you all about the great stuff I experienced. As soon as I asked about gluten-free our waitress ( Jacqui) She was amazing and kept making sure that I am okay with all of the answers . She gave me the gluten-free menu. They seemed very knowledgeable about the things I can eat and I cannot. And she actually brought in the gluten-free soy sauce to show me and I enjoyed it very much and I was very appreciative of that. I had the spring rolls with gluten-free soy sauce and the chicken garlic with sesame oil. I felt very safe eating there. They made so many accommodations for me and I appreciate it. Delicious! If I can give them 10 out of 10 I would.

What a Wonderful Time! We love Thai food and were visiting from Portland, OR. We had Thai Fresh Spring Rolls, PadThai with Shrimp, Pad Ki Mao (Drunken Noodles) with Beef, and Red Curry with Chicken. Having experienced Thai food in Thailand and many American Thai Restaurants for years, I can say their food was excellent and stood apart! Thank you Bammy and staff for an Amazing Experience! Wish we lived closer!

Food was very fresh. Though a bit too sweet (again my problem with too sweet Americanized Thai food)!
The place is very nicely decorated.
There was no one to greet us at the door so we waited a bit and called a few times. They have sign saying that they are short-staffed.
Bottom line: will go again if we visit the area in the future!
