I first came here at the beginning of the year with some friends and have usually gotten takeout from here since. I decided to stop by a couple of times on my way home in the last week. Honestly, I’m pretty impressed. I have ordered the ceviche tostadas twice and they truly do hit the spot. If you’re not a fan of onions, they do not have very many onions in them(at least not when I got them). I picked out what little onions there were. Plus look at how beautiful they look! I typically get the street tacos but I do ask for modifications and have them remove the chorizo, hot dog, cilantro, and onions. They honestly are pretty good. I’m sure if you like all the other stuff they would be good too but I am notoriously not a fan of onions especially. I don’t drink alcohol and have been getting virgin piña coladas here and they are so cute and pretty good if I may say so. I haven’t checked to see if they can make other spirit free drinks but I’ll ask and keep on updating my review.

I came here because this place had great reviews and friends suggested the restaurant but I was disappointed with their service, the waiter staff were not knowledgeable about their menu and the deals they had going on. The food was delicious and had authentic Mexican flavors to it. I had the chicken fajitas plate that do not come with tortillas if you’re getting the deal on it.

We had lunch here. We started with chips, salsa and queso. We really enjoyed them they were all good. For our meal I got the Chimichanguitas. They were very tasty! Had a good flavor and the outside had a good crispy texture. My husband got 4 beef enchiladas and 4 cheese enchiladas with carne sauce. He liked them for the most part, he is not a fan of potatoes in ground beef and didn’t know it came with them. Other than that it was good. Very tasty and would go back.

Very frustrating experience. I specifically ordered a $5 queso and two $1 tacos, so I expected to pay around $7 plus tax, but somehow I left with a $13 bill. They do not clearly explain pricing, and it feels like they hide add-on fees until it’s time to pay. There were extra charges for sour cream ($2.50) that were never mentioned when ordering, plus an additional card fee on top of that. Transparency matters, and this place does not have it.
To make matters worse, I ordered churros for dessert and was given cold churros to go with no ice cream. I never asked for them to be boxed up, which made it obvious they had been sitting there for a while, literally like someone else’s order and they just handed them to me as if that was normal. Cold, stale churros with missing ice cream as described on the menu is unacceptable.
Between the hidden fees, misleading pricing, and poor food quality, I would not return. There are plenty of better Mexican restaurants in Lubbock that actually value their customers.

Muchas gracias La Palapa for being open til 5 pm on the Thanksgiving holiday! You saved me. My kids and I were hungry and y’all satisfied us completely. Nice environment, Artistic and clean restaurant! Love the theme, the vibe and the wonderful staff! Kid friendly, small bar area, spacious enough for the elbows, and the food was delicious. The plus, it’s located right off the highway. Oh, and the restroom is clean with a baby changing table. I highly recommend!

One of the best Mexican restaurants in Lubbock without any doubt. The food is great, their bar makes amazing drinks, the service is great, it looks really nice inside, and the food is very reasonably priced. I’m a big fan of La Palapa and I will keep coming back and recommending it to everyone.

I loved the atmosphere, it was very beautiful inside and it wasn’t so loud that I couldn’t hear my family members talking. The line went pretty quick as well. We ordered an appetizer of the queso with added beef but it tasted like nacho cheese rather than an actual queso. Our waitress refilled our drinks once and seemed a little annoyed with us. The food tasted okay just wish they had bigger portioning on their sides (beans n rice) it was served in a little condiment bowl. Their sophillas were sooo good, I really enjoyed their dessert.

We had dinner today here and it was amazing! Food was absolutely bomb along with the shots and bar drinks! I had the carne asada and it did not disappoint!! Jackie was our server and she was quick, funny, and super sweet and helpful. She helped us with the menu and recommended us great drinks. We will definitely be back!
