Did a late dinner takeout and the customer service was ok, but you can tell, she was not happy taking the call. However, we waited about 20-30mins for our order and when we finally got our food, the Pad See Ew was lightly seasoned with not much flavor, the Pad Thai was the worst it was mostly plain taste, only the Thai fried rice was ok. Somewhat burnt rice with the burnt flavor, but it was better than the other 2 dishes. Most likely not coming here again.

I bet I almost died back there. I ordered crab rice noodles and got sick afterward. The food was cold it looked like fast food, yet I had to wait 40 minutes. It tasted like $2 store-bought noodles. The crab tasted awful. It smelled bad, and the waiters were touching cash and then the tops of the silverware. Terrible place to visit. It’s also way too dark inside.

Horrible service, they seem to favor their regulars at the bar. Food took forever to get to us and they messed up our order as well. Food also didn’t taste as good as it used to years back. Fried rice was lacking ingredients- cucumber. The server seemed least interested in making it better

Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken, Shrimp, Crabmeat, Cashew Nuts, Eggs, and White and Green Onions. Pad See Ew with Flat Noodles, Chicken, Broccoli, and Egg.

This last minute dinner decision was well worth the U-turn! Not only was the food well seasoned and freshly made, the ambiance was sophisticated, but approachable. The staff wasn’t super attentive, but they also weren’t rude.

Living in LA for 18 months – this is a great neighborhood location. Staff are awesome – food is great and always lots of great people at the bar. Owner is there most days and great guy to hang out with as well. One of my favorites!

I took my family on a Thursday night. Not too much people there. We got calamari and Tom yum soup for appetiser. The quality of the soup was too less and the way they served it was poor. The fried calamari was not fried as we expected. They added carrots In calamari? Where did that come from? And let’s not even talk about the quantity of the pad Thai. Only 2 people can hardly share one plate. The Thai fried rice was ok but there was less quality. Overall food were really expensive and they don’t worth your money. Go somewhere else if you have a big team with you.

New years eve, after getting back from shopping there are almost no places open past 830. Thai food sounded good and Thai Talay is within a 5 min walk from our hotel (in heavy rain).
There are no shortage of awesome Thai joints in Chicago so it is not easy to impress us. Just like other ethnic foods in the US, the American version is always a little different from the original back home.
We didn’t want to have left overs so we ordered our go to plus a sampler app. The app was on point, the chicken satay was so tender that they fall off the stick when you bite into it. Now alot of other places we have been to, you will have to rip it off the stick, so this is a good sign. The Pad See You with Chicken was 60% chicken and 35% noodles plus the veggies. The meat to noodle ratio is quite rare and we almost wanted to ask for more noodles by trading in the chicken. The sauce is a little bit on the sweet side, as in overly sweet (same as the Satay sauce). My duck in red curry was awesome, a little bit of heat, thick curry and tons of duck.
The only thing I don’t particularly like was how dark it was in there at night time, you can barely see the food. It was darker than a night club. That was why it took me a while to edit my photos to look somewhat presentable. And yes they do charge for the rice separately so do not make that mistake of complaining at the end when you get the bill because they will specifically ask you when you order.
Comparatively speaking, it is a solid 4 star in our experiences, nothing like the real thing in Thailand though.

Extremely Disappointed – Not as Described and Not Worth the Price

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was too frustrating to ignore. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass expecting a high-quality dish, especially at $36. What I received was not what was described—there was no ginger sauce as listed, and instead the fish was floating in a bland, unappetizing broth.

The flavor was completely off, lacking any balance or depth. It tasted nothing like what you’d expect from a premium dish. For that price, I expect excellence—or at the very least, accuracy. I ended up throwing the entire thing away after a couple of bites.

I don’t mind paying for quality, but this was a complete letdown. I won’t be ordering from here again. Save your money!

Average and expensive. The food tasted ok. But the menu contains of only text. Not even a single picture of any food. A restaurant owner that cares about his customer and his business needs to be much more active in marketing and advertizment. Having a menu without even a single picture of Thailand’s food culture is not acceptable. In my case this ended up for me ordering wrong food.
The amount of salt in the food and sauses was ok. The staff were very polite and helpful. The total value of food I ordered ended up $28 (with tip). To expensive!

Wow! This place is our absolute favorite. Honest to G, we are here every other week. I can’t decide on that I like more, the food, or the ambiance. The Tom Kha is an absolute must, cashew chicken is to die for. If a family member was in a hostage situation, and I had to give up my red devil noodle to get a cousin/uncle/aunt rescued…I would run off with a to-go box. You can’t choose your family but you can choose Thai Talay.

Jokes aside, I think it’s the ambiance. I am renting out this place for my 34th birthday with my tech bro friends
