TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

Dave’s Hot Chicken has always been my go-to recommendation whenever friends visit from states that don’t have one and ask where to get good chicken.
While this isn’t my first time reviewing a Dave’s location, this particular one continues to stand out for its speed, cleanliness, and consistently excellent service.
Maria, who often takes my order, brings such vibrant energy that every visit feels personal.
It’s like being helped by a longtime friend who remembers exactly who you are and knows how to guide you through the spice levels. I used to stick with barely any spice, but she encouraged me to try mild, then eventually hot. After watching me struggle a bit to finish the hot, she thoughtfully suggested I go back to mild on my next visit which I did, ego checked and all. It was funny, honest, and genuinely considerate.
My coworkers and I work about ten minutes away, so this Dave’s has become a frequent stop for us. The chicken is fantastic every time, and the shakes especially the one with cookies are a must. Every spice level, every side, the fries, the sauce, the tenders, the sliders nothing misses. I’m very grateful to have this location so close and reliable.

Very fun place! The esthetic is very fun and the food was amazing! The seasoning on the tenders was closer to a dry tub than a sauce which was unexpected but very tasty. The flight of wings was excellent as well! Everything had a good kick to it, so definitely try it out if you have a high heat tolerance!

Place is new so it was busy but not crowded. Cool interior atmosphere cranking out classic tunes. Service was friendly. Food was fresh and good. Sandwich is a slider so portion is slightly smaller than other chicken sandwich restaurants but it’s also a little cheaper so comparable price/quantity. The pickles are great and fries are perfectly crispy. It’s nice that they have so many spice levels. Perfect for kids or people sensitive to hot stuff. I’ll be back for another sandwich in the future.
