The service and ambiance were very good. My Henrick’s martini with blue cheese stuffed olives was excellent. My wife loved her Seared Salmon, and my son and daughter-in-law enjoyed their pasta dishes. The problem was with my Surf and Turf special, ribeye steak and Stonington sea scallops. I love both and order them frequently when I dine out. I always order Ribeye medium rare, which the waiter acknowledged is his preference. The ribeye arrived in three separate pieces with sauce on top of mashed potatoes with sea scallops and asparagus. The sauce was delicious, but the Ribeye appeared a bit over-cooked. I cut a piece and showed it to the waiter, however, at that time I didn’t expect that all of the Ribeye would be cooked medium to medium well instead of medium rare. And although the first few bites were easily edible because the sauce was so delicious, by the time I got to the second piece of meat I was finding it difficult to finish because it was so chewy, unlike any Ribeye I’ve been served before. At that point I turned to the scallops to save the meal only to discover that any flavor they once had was completely obscured by a ridiculous amount of salt. Apparently, I wasn’t the only diner that night that had a problem with the “Surf and Turf special” as my son heard another table questioning whether the Ribeye was sirloin. I dine in the area frequently with family and there are just too many other wonderful restaurants within walking distance. It’s safe to say that it may be a while and take some convincing before I gamble the price of a $65 entrée on Hoof’s (however, I may be back for another $17 Henrick’s martini with blue cheese stuffed olives).

I discovered Hoofs earlier this year, and it has easily become my favorite restaurant in the area. I love going out to eat, but I keep finding myself coming back because everything is just that good. The food is unbelievable every time — the Linguine alla Vongole and Rigatoni alla Vodka are my two all-time favorites. I’m gluten free and dairy free, and they are exceptional with accommodations. The staff is always kind, helpful, and willing to adjust dishes so I can enjoy them safely. The drinks are amazing too, especially the sangria! The atmosphere is great, the service is always friendly, and every visit feels like a perfect experience. If you’re looking for incredible food, great drinks, and a place that truly takes care of its customers, Hoofs is the spot!

Living in Chicago, we are incredibly fortunate to have access to some of the best Italian restaurants in the country. My husband is of Italian heritage, and between family recipes and our high standards, we are not easily impressed—especially when dining outside of Chicago. We’ve always felt that the North End in Boston sets the bar high.

That’s why we were absolutely blown away by our experience at Hoofs in Pawcatuck.

From the very first bite, we knew we were in for something special. The eggplant rollatini appetizer was unbelievable—perfectly prepared, rich, and beautifully balanced. Three of us dined, and every single dish was outstanding.

I ordered the tortellini with chicken. I’m extremely picky about chicken—it’s often overcooked or poorly prepared—but this was grilled to perfection and thinly sliced, which is surprisingly hard to find. It was tender, flavorful, and complemented the pasta beautifully.

My sister is vegetarian, and they graciously accommodated her with a freshly made pasta primavera that was vibrant, fresh, and clearly prepared with care. Our friend ordered the rigatoni alla vodka and could not stop raving about it. He’s Italian and an excellent cook himself, so his approval says a lot.

Even the complimentary bread deserves special recognition—soft and pillowy on the inside with a perfectly firm crust coated in sesame seeds. Paired with the butter provided, it was absolutely divine.

And the drinks? Next level. The wine selection is superb, and the pistachio martinis are hands down the best we have ever had.

We are not easily impressed when it comes to Italian food, but Hoofs exceeded every expectation. It’s rare to find a restaurant that delivers at this level on every front. We will absolutely be back.

We dying for the very large group here in the food was delicious. The service was also very good. The atmosphere was okay as we were kind of close to the kitchen but all in all would definitely go back. Authentic Italian dinner

I’m not one to go and leave a review trashing an establishment but we were extremely disappointed with the meal we ate on Valentine’s Day. I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place and last night was easily the worst meal I’ve ever had. I understand they were busy but that’s not an excuse for let down after let down with our meals. I got the chicken Marsala and it had only one tiny shaving of mushroom, the chicken was rubbery and disgusting. The mashed potatoes were also cold and had no flavor with undercooked spinach. My girlfriend got the truffle pasta, and that was not only equally as bad but made her sick. She’s gotten that the past 3 times she’s been and said the quality of dinner has drastically dropped. Not to mention the pricing of drinks were outrageous. I can easily say il never step foot in there again. On the brightside our waitress was awesome, had a great attitude despite the chaos ensuing on Valentine’s Day.

I was looking forward to trying this place but the halibut dish I ordered was over cooked and dry. The salmon dish was mediocre with no flavor. The bolognese pasta and mozzarella salad were yummy. I would try them again but different entrees.

Great food and service. I enjoyed sitting at the bar and enjoying a couple of drinks. It was comfortable and the bartender was kind and knowledgeable about what he was doing. Would definitely come again.

Loved this Italian restaurant in Westerly/Pawcatuck! We did have reservations and they do recommend making one. The bread and red pepper hummus served was delicious! The food came out very fast and well prepared!! We enjoyed the calamari which was perfect and a great flavor including the cherry peppers and artichokes. We loved our housemade pasta dishes! The pasta was great! I really loved my white truffle fettuccine!! It had a delicious taste with the right amount of truffle and pancetta! The service was great and the waitress helped recommend a perfect wine for my husband’s meal, the pinot noir by Saddlebred. Dessert was a key lime pie which seemed to have a chocolate or oreo crust which is was interesting but the consistency and texture of the key lime pie was great! Creamsicle Martini tasted exactly as is and enjoyed the passion fruit mojito too! Will certainly come back again!

Hoof’s is a great choice for upscale but local Westerly dining. Although not presented as an Italian restaurant, that smash it out of the park with all the basics. Meatballs are the best! From Boston to New York you will not find a better meatball. Their pasta in fresh hand made. The chef pairs the perfect Hand tossed pasta unique to each dish. The chicken and veal parm are a balance of crispy and juicy. Not too thick nor too thin. Chicken Marsala and piccata are classic and velvet sauce. They serve a unique red pepper hummus with bread as a welcoming treat. The tables and floors are immaculate and shows great efforts go into presentation here. The seafood is local and fresh the scallops seared perfectly. I had the watermelon salad and topped with the scallops. Great summer choice. They allow you to add on to any order and don’t leave without trying the meatballs even as a side dish. The staff is friendly and family works and owns here. You do need reservations so call ahead or use the Resy app.
