Real French fries were once just potatoes, oil, and salt. Simple. Honest. Part of our food history as they are made here at the BuckHorn.
What we’re being sold now are coated, engineered imitations—loaded with dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate to preserve color, and anti-foaming agents to survive industrial processing. This isn’t improvement; it’s replacement.
One more real food quietly taken away, swapped for shelf-stable junk disguised as convenience. If we keep accepting this, we won’t lose just fries—we’ll lose any memory of what real food was supposed to be.
I enjoyed my meal but was a bit overfull after. I would recommend most people to eat some at the Buckhorn, and some later.
Anyway, the time waiting gave me a chance to enjoy the fun/clever decor and listen to the casual conversation of the regulars at the bar. If I can manage to get back to the area, I will make a point to stop in at the Buckhorn again.
Steak bites and burgers are really good!
I had the smoked prime rib dip sandwich the other day. It wasn’t bad, but I would not get it again. I may just be picky here. I haven’t had a beef dip sandwich that I like since moving off of the East Coast. Maybe it’s the bread. Idk.
The bloody Mary and the jalapeno burgers are good. I’ve seen people with the prime rib special ( I think it’s on Friday’s) I haven’t had it, but it looks really good.
Steak bites are delicious painted with the garlic cheese curds.
I Don’t think the food prices are that bad but drinks can get pricey pretty quick.
