10/10 experience. Best birria and fish tacos we’ve had in ABQ. Kept meaning to try this place since it opened, and SO glad that we finally did. Great casual atmosphere and they also have a TV to watch sports. But more importantly, insanely delicious and FRESH food, kind people, and wonderful experience overall. Don’t skip making a stop here!

The only reason not to give this a full 5 stars is that it is very small, with limited parking nearby. The restaurant is very clean and presents well.

Beyond that the staff are all very friendly, happy to answer questions and are easily engaged in conversation about their food. The food is served relatively quickly and is absolutely delicious! They use a great balance of fats and acids for a delicious and balanced flavor profile for those who can appreciate such gastric artistry. I’ve tried about 1/3rd of their menu items and have been wonderfully delighted and I think you will too!

Wow, every time we come here, we are never disappointed. The service is excellent, friendly and welcoming. It’s always so clean. But best of all… THE FOOD! Everything we have tried is so good but my favorite is the Rio Grande Quesadilla with barbacoa.

I’m literally writing this review from the parking lot because Rio Taco is THAT good. My wife ordered the quesa birria tacos and honestly—words can’t do them justice. Perfectly cheesy, flavorful, and melt-in-your-mouth good. I went with the asada burrito, and it was absolutely incredible. The meat was tender and seasoned just right, and the salsa? Pure perfection—peak flavor. We left feeling SO full and satisfied!

We’re in New Mexico, surrounded by great Mexican food, and I can honestly say I haven’t had anything this good in years. If you’re anywhere near this place, do yourself a favor and eat here. You’ll thank yourself later.

Starbucks meets Food Truck.
The tacos are larger (and a little more expensive) than the usual street tacos. I found 2 were plenty for a light lunch. They also have quesadillas that look yummy. I would have like a salsa bar to spice up my tacos to my preference. No dessert if you have a sweet tooth. There is a nice indoor/outdoor with the openess between the patio and the small dining area. Overall atmosphere is industrial.

Service was quick and pleasant. We were given a number to place at our table and our food was brought to us. We were also brought extra salsa and limes. We ordered tacos (barbacoa, chicken adobada, asada), stuffed potatoes (al pastor & asada) and the birria trio. Salsa is delicious and the heat level was just right for me… my son likes it hotter. The asada had that delicious char on the meat and the meat was seasoned well. The barbacoa was moist and flavorful. The chicken adobada was seasoned well. The stuffed potatoes were just that… stuffed. The asada had the grilled (burnt) cheese on it (best cheese ever), salsa, an avocado sauce, onion and cilantro and really needed nothing added, it was that good. The al pastor potato was a delicious mix of savory and sweet. Tender meat and pickled onions added to the great flavor. The birria was so dang delicious… the consommé was just as delicious. It’s also worth mentioning that they have “the good ice”… iykyk. This will not be our last visit. My son already plans on getting a burrito next.

It’s been hard to find a great place for tacos in Albuquerque, but this was a refreshing find. The tacos were fantastic! The Al Pastor had that fire taste you only get with a trompo. The service and the atmosphere were exceptional. Every different employee stopped by to make sure we had whatever we needed and that we were enjoying our meal. The service wasn’t imposing, it was sincere hospitality. We can’t wait to return!

Great quality, flavorful, clean and affordable! Ordered the Big Rio Burrito with green chile (it wasnt spicy) so I ordered a side of red. Also, shrimp tacos- crispy and big. And an order of pancakes- soft and fluffy. Everything was so delicious and very filling! Will come back again to try their other stuff.

We moved from Los Angeles to Santa Fe about four years ago. While we love authentic New Mexican food we’ve been missing street tacos. We drove from Santa Fe just to try Rio Tacos. It did not disappoint. I had two tacos, carne asada and Al pastor. The meat was moist and deeply flavorful, the corn tortillas homemade and salsa was delicious. We will be back!!!
