We dined-in on a Saturday and had a wonderful experience. We arrived around 3:30-4pm, and the restaurant was almost full but had three empty tables left. We were seated nearly as soon as we opened the door, and our order was taken within a few minutes. Ashley was our primary waitress, and she was AWESOME! Super-attentive, and very helpful. She answered all of our questions and was just a really friendly face right from the start.
We ordered crawfish, potatoes, sausage, and some dungeoness crab leg clusters, and our food began coming out in less than ten minutes. The crawfish were spiced perfectly, and the sausage was DELISH. The crab was perfect, and we ordered another round because it was so good! Numerous staff came to clear the table and refill drinks multiple times as we dined, and we just had an amazing meal.
Because they have just opened, some items on the menu were ‘coming soon’, such as po-boys. Honestly, we felt like the menu doesn’t even need that, if you ask us. There are a TON of other things to whet your appetite, and we happen to feel it’s better to specialize in a few things and do them perfectly than be scattered all over the place trying to please everyone and their grandmother!
The staff is still learning their way, so be patient as they get things going. They are all lovely people and deserve our support, not pressure and criticism.
The decor is still in transition, since the establishment so recently changed hands, but all of that will settle in due time. It was spotlessly clean and very organized on our visit.
Ultimately, we no longer live on the Westbank but you can bet your butt that we will be back JUST to eat at Lefort’s!!! Thank you for a phenomenal meal, y’all! We can’t wait to come back!
02/28/2026 Update:
We visited Lefort’s again this week because I could not stop obsessing over those Dungeness crabs! This time we arrived a little earlier, I think between maybe 1:39-2pm? Plenty of parking, a few tables available.
We were immediately seated at a lovely table for two by a front window in a cozy corner. (Y’all, remember this one for Date Nights!) The vibe was friendly and casual, with some throwback 80’s music in the background. Still spotlessly clean!
Aliyah (sp?) was our waitress and she was SUPER-sweet and attentive! This time, we skipped the crawfish and ordered just the Dungeness crab clusters, along with some sweet corn on the cob, boiled seasoned potatoes, DD sausage links, clarified butter, and their YUMMY housemate tartar sauce. We also got some boudin balls to try out.
EVERYTHING was delish. The boudin balls were crispy on the outside and perfect inside, and the sauce was a perfect, peppery accompaniment. (TBH, we just ate it, y’all! We didn’t read about it!) The corn and potatoes had that secret, just-spicy-enough seasoning, and the sausage was great. The crab was excellent and frankly, I *really* appreciate being able to get it because not every place offers this! (As a matter of fact, my closer Eastbank fave doesn’t serve it and I previously have just steamed it myself!)
Our awesome waitress checked in multiple times and made sure we were topped up and happy, and Mr: Lefort even came by to check in on the quality of our food and experience, which was so nice and unexpected! As we were leaving, we had a delightful conversation with Aliyah AND a kind and genuine goodbye and thank you from the smiling gentleman bussing the tables.
Yet again, I will emphasize that this is a LOVELY little family joint, and it FEELS that way, which is why I will continue to return as often as possible AND recommend them to others! It’s the little things, y’all. They count, and there are already lots of little things making a difference at Lefort’s on Barataria.
Let me start off by saying the crawfish is by far some of the biggest crawfish I’ve ever had. The crawfish was seasoned and cooked well.
I also ordered the fried shrimp plate. As you can see from the picture, the shrimp was unidentifiable. The taste was even worse. The fries were soggy and some were still cold in the middle. The shrimp was soo bad that I had to throw the plate away. Again the crawfish were great. If I do go back I will just stick with the crawfish.
