Stopped at Chummy’s Grill during our road trip from Vancouver to Toronto — what a hidden gem! The food was fresh, homemade, and absolutely delicious. Clean space, fast and friendly service, generous portions, and fair prices. We may never return to Sault Ste. Marie, but we’ll always remember this amazing spot. Highly recommend! ❤️

Chummy’s is a little gem in Sault Ste. Marie. On a visit home recently I taken to Chummy’s for the first time. This spot may be somewhat hidden, but it is absolutely worth seeking out. I stopped in for breakfast and ordered the pancakes—without a doubt, the best pancakes I have ever had in a restaurant. They were light and fluffy and served with real, local maple syrup, which made them exceptional.

The staff were warm and friendly, and the restaurant was clearly a favourite with locals, buzzing with regulars. On future visits to the Soo, Chummy’s will be a must-stop for me. Wonderful experience all around.

Walking in, super cool vibe. Wood carvings all over and nice people. The place has suitable space for booths or tables, your choice.

Food was solid , onion rings didn’t disappoint. The small Caesar salad was enough for 2 people as an appetizer. The deep fried pickles ” were good, they were deep fried pickles ” — the gf (( I don’t like them, hard to swallow )). Had the pulled pork sandwich which held up, like a solid 7/10. Can’t complain, I expected worse. And the FRIES are solid ✔️
To add, chief burger is crazy in size, the burger is enough for a Man (( add cheese, remove relish, add pickles ))

Service was cool, didn’t have to ask for more napkins or anything. Also didn’t kick it us out after close.

I ordered two omelettes and the omelette were not omelettes – it was veggies wrapped in egg – very misleading as I could recall actually getting a western before not like this – I shouldn’t have tipped – as a matter of fact I won’t be tipping anymore – especially for take out – very disappointing – I wanted an omelette- not veggies wrapped with a egg

It deserves a 1 star because there isn’t really much native people working there – very disappointing business – and the food and menu is misleading

Visited on a Thursday and lucked into Chummy’s famous fish fry. The pickerel was delicious: tender, lightly battered and served in massive portions. I took two of the four fillets home for later, but managed to finish the tasty thick-cut fries.

The place was packed at around 6pm. It took a while to get seated but the vibe was warm and humming with conversation.

Glad to see this Batchewana First Nation restaurant thriving. Best food I’ve had in Sault Ste. Marie so far.

Stopped in for breakfast during my Great Lakes swim tour on our way out of town and WOW. Maybe the best breakfast I ever had! Best home fries, amazing homemade toast, local maple syrup, great service, warm atmosphere, and very good prices. Will absolutely return when I come back to commune with the mermaids in Lake Superior <3

Really interesting and unique menu too. Regret not trying the “scone frybread”.

We’re new to the city and decided to try Chummy’s after reading its glowing online reviews, and it did not disappoint! We’ve already been three times, and it’s quickly become our go-to spot for breakfast and brunch.

The eggs benedict is outstanding. The hollandaise sauce is exactly how I like it, and I appreciate that they ask how soft you want your eggs cooked. I love a soft, oozy yolk that isn’t runny, and they nailed it every time. The home fries are also excellent, crispy on the outside, tender inside, and lightly seasoned. My husband has loved the omelettes and french toast.

Service has always been friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere feels both cozy and welcoming. The restaurant is spotless and inviting, and with it being so close to home, I know we will be regulars here for a long time to come.

Food was great, prices were fantastic, but there was an hour wait between ordering food and receiving it. All we had ordered was basic breakfast for two people. We ended up drinking 4-5 cups of coffee each while waiting.

Excellent food. So much food that that neither of us could finish our food. The classic poutine is a must try if you haven’t had one. There’s a reason it’s a staple in this region. The Indian taco was interesting.
