Brisket, ribs & sides served up cafeteria-style in a no-frills setting with indoor picnic tables.

Food was . The beef and short ribs were super tender and juicy, and everything tasted amazing. My friend said it’s not as good as what he’s had in Texas, but still really solid. I’ve never been to Texas, so this was more than good enough for me, now I’m even more curious how Texas BBQ hits. Hopefully I’ll get to try Rudy’s BBQ in Texas later this year.

Rudy’s is a really great place to get barbecue in North Scottsdale. It’s as close to Texas barbecue as you can get in the area. The people are always super friendly The meat and sides are always top notch.
Today got lean brisket, jalapeño sausage, beans, coleslaw, and a rice crispy treat for later Big fan of this place and will be back again soon!

I do not claim to be a barbecue connoisseur or expert, but Rudy’s has good food. I have tried most of the dishes and have never had a bad one. The meats have been all quality cuts. The baby back ribs are tender and have a nice smoky-peppery flavor. The turkey is my favorite item on the menu. Always tender and moist with a smooth texture and full, natural turkey flavor. No sauce necessary on the turkey but both of the barbecue sauces are flavorful with a good mix of sweet and savory. I am generally not a brisket fan but I like Rudy’s. The brisket is not excessively fatty, and has a nice caramelized outside with a tender and firm flavor on the inside. The jalapeño sausage is good as well. The downside is one of the counter personal is not very friendly or helpful with questions. The prices are on the high side and you really can’t get a full meal for less than $25. They also let vagrants hang out in the place and use the wash stations is the open main part of the restaurant. I will continue to frequent this place based upon the quickness of service and quality and variety of food.

First visit here and they apparently offer samples for that, so we got to try some turkey and some brisket. I passed on those and got the pulled pork sandwich and some coleslaw which was excellent. My luncheon cohort had some ribs and pulled pork and was similarly impressed. Definitely would go here again.

So, it’s just average. We keep trying it hoping for a different outcome, buts always the same. Each time the meat has been dry, but that’s not my biggest complaint. Everything has soooooooo much pepper on it. I like seasoning my food, but this is ridiculous. Every time, it is so peppery. They get a 3 because it’s not awful, the people are nice, it’s close to our house, but dang it, we just want some good BBQ without so much pepper.
PS not once, but twice we have ordered the large catering meal for a holiday dinner for 12. Both times PEPPER.

Ordered delivery today, Sunday 7/20, early afternoon and was so disappointed. I was really looking forward to the jalapeño cheddar sausage, and also ordered pork ribs and the half chicken. The sausage was so dry, old and overcooked. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more than two days old. The chicken and pork ribs were also dry. Chicken was bland and pork was overly salty. Bummed that I wasted my money on food that got tossed into the garbage. Sticking with Dickie’s bbq from now on.

We spend many mornings driving south to Mesa, Gilbert, and Oro Valley for rugby games, and we are always running behind. Some friends turned us on to Rudy’s BBQ grab and go breakfast tacos!
If you’ve been to any Rudy’s locations, then you know that the barbecued meat options are delicious. Just put those in a soft taco with egg and cheese, and you’ve got their lineup of options. Jalapeno sausage is my fave, but they’ve got regular sausage, brisket, bacon, chopped beef, and chorizo. They make them until 10 am every day. Just walk in, grab tacos, salsa, and sauce and pay at the to go register. It takes literally a minute, and we’re ALMOST on time for rugby

Probably the worst barbecue I’ve ever had. The lean sliced beef brisket was very dry, tough, and had absolutely no flavor. The smoked turkey was just as bad. And I tried the green chili stew, and it was pretty much tasteless. Being from Texas, I take my barbecue seriously. Obviously, they don’t.

Rudy’s used to be the spot. Looks like they have given up. This is what they serve now. They have gotten so lazy they don’t even mix the ingredients. A def step down from what is was a couple months ago.

I’ve been to Rudy’s in Texas many times and never have had issues with food quality. I was excited that they finally opened ones here in Phoenix. I ordered from the Scottsdale location on uber eats and was disgusted at the quality of the meat I received. $60 for brisket and undercooked ribs. All meat was room temperature bordering on cold. I’m surprised they even allow this to go out for delivery. The brisket actually looks grey and stale, nothing was edible. Really disappointed and am concerned for food-borne illness for customers.
