Reviews
The restaurant is housed in the historic Paul Revere home in Canton MA and the welcoming wood fire grill in the open kitchen pays homage to the forges from centuries prior.
Cocktail selection was excellent and service by Kyle was superb throughout the evening.
The hand made pull-apart bread rolls with smoked salted butter to start the meal were piping hot and melted in your mouth, with the smoked salted butter adding lovely nuanced flavor to the butter.
We savored our seafood appetizers, harkening to Boston’s coastal locale, with succulent crabcakes as well as shrimp cooked in a cast iron skillet with chili strands and crusty bread.
The fire-roasted mussels were truly exceptional with a rich wonderfully flavorful creamy broth enriched with bacon and apples. Superb!!
The whitefish pate, which was amazing, was served with a delicious homemade sweet bread baked in a can in traditional fashion. The combination of the bread, crème fraiche, and pickled onions with the whitefish pate made for an exceptionally delicious combination.
Entrees included an amazing pork special with sausage, rib, pork belly and roasted pork, all perfectly seasoned. The cavatelli was hand made, with lobster as the protein, and again was absolutely delicious. The scrod entree was perfectly prepared, and included bay scallops and fregola as well as broccoli. Perfection! The medium-rare steak tips were cooked exactly to order, along with choice of potatoes or fries. All of the portions were so large we each had take-away boxes to enjoy another day!
Sides included oven-roasted Brussels sprouts and a wonderful beet/arugula/goat cheese salad with house vinaigrette, both excellent!
Dessert was impossibly delicious, although we were so full from the very large portion sizes we almost had no room left! The sticky caramel cake was ridiculously luxurious and decadent, topped with vanilla ice cream and toffee crumbles. An absolute must, if you have room, and the single serving was plenty for 4 of us. The cookies were also fantastic, as was the unique and delicious molasses cookie ice cream.
Definitely a 5 star experience. Portions were huge, staff (Kyle, Brian, Chloe, Forrest) super friendly and helpful.
Chef Marc Sheehan has created a true gem south of Boston, reflective of the region’s history and heritage. The unique flavor profiles and nuanced ingredient combinations showcase his incredible culinary skills and it was such an honor to have dined here.
Highly recommend!!
Located inside the beautifully restored Copper Rolling Mill at the Paul Revere Heritage Site in Canton, the restaurant is open, airy, and tastefully designed. It’s easy to get to—Lyft from my hotel in Canton was a breeze (in fact, getting around Canton felt easier than navigating Boston).
My server, Devin, was absolutely wonderful—warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about the food. When I asked for a recommendation, she immediately suggested the fish sandwich. I hadn’t been considering it, but I’m so glad I took her advice—it turned out to be the best fish sandwich I’ve ever had. The fish was golden and crispy, served on a toasted sesame bun with a big helping of coleslaw and fries. Incredible.
I also ordered the house-cooked baked beans, the arugula and beet salad (a fresh, vibrant knockout), and finished with a scoop of espresso ice cream made in-house. Yes, I probably ordered too much—but everything was so good, I didn’t mind one bit.
Service was fantastic, the food was top-tier, and even the restrooms were spotless and modern. My total before tip was just over $48, and it felt like a bargain for a meal of this caliber.
Northern Spy is a hidden gem, and I’ll be recommending it to everyone. I can’t wait to return.
There is plenty of free parking.
We had a fabulous attentive waitress, who made our girl’s lunch gathering one of the best.
When two of us ordered a B&B one the rocks, we were momentarily disappointed when they didn’t have any. The bartender stepped up and made us her version-And let me tell you, it was better than the bottle. So much so, we asked for the mix and instructions, how many ounces of this and that.
The highlight for me were the SeredipiTea options (a whole pot is $7)!!!
I also appreciated their zero proof (no alcohol) drinks! Very creative! I had The Fog, which was as smoked agave, blueberry, egg white, and lemon. I could have done without the smoked part. I think it would be utterly amazing without that, but the texture of the egg whites was unique. I mentioned this to the waitress and she brought me the High Tea instead! That was tastier (get rid of the smoke flavor and the other would be better though).
The park next door is magnificent and I can’t wait to check out the adjacent adventures!!!
Happy 250 years since your infamous ride Sir Paul Revere!!!
Service wasn’t quick, but that may be my chosen time of coming at the end of lunch rush.
My server was very friendly!
