My wife and I had our anniversary here and they made it a very enjoyable experience. It’s still nice to see a place with a real candle on the table and a clean tablecloth. The prosciutto wrapped shrimp appetizer was very well cooked and the sauce on it was delicious, I would recommend getting it. I had the scallops and my wife had the salmon and they both melted as you ate them and the pasta rigatoni you get is very good. We split an order of tortellini that almost stole the show…our server was very cheery and attentive. We will for sure be going back to try more dishes

Went on Saturday night before Mothers Day, and it did not disappoint! We were a bit late for our reservation but got seated right away. Renee was our server and she was attentive, apologized for the wait since she said it was a bit busier than normal, and made sure we were taken care of.
I ordered the seafood pasta (forget the Italian name) and my wife ordered the cioppino, and we both liked our dish. Topped it off with the recommended house made tiramusu which did not appoint.
Will be coming back to try something else next time and I recommend others do the same! Only slight negative is that it is a bit loud in there so not great for intimate conversations.

My wife and I had our first date here 30 years ago Dec 1993. It was great then and still great today. Escargot, veal scallopino, and sole were great. The homemade blueberry cheesecake made a great ending to our meal. Of course, we will be back. Thanks to Angel, our waiter, for excellent service!

Montecatini in Walnut Creek is one of those old-school Italian spots that never disappoints. The ambiance has a “Goodfellas” vibe—classic, cozy, and full of character, with a timeless feel that makes you feel like you’re stepping into a traditional Italian trattoria. The food here is outstanding, with rich flavors and great attention to detail.
Their specials are always worth trying, especially the swordfish and duck—both are standouts that showcase the restaurant’s commitment to quality. The portions are generous, and every dish feels like a true labor of love. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, Montecatini is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates authentic, delicious Italian food in a warm, inviting atmosphere.

I absolutely love this restaurant. Incredible food, service and ambiance. High quality Italian food in a nice yet laid back and not stuffy environment. The beef carpaccio is amazing, we order this every time. I had the calamari steak as well and it was such a unique and tasty dish. The chicken is moist and salmon is amazing as well. You truly can’t go wrong here – 10/10 recommend! I will be coming back to try the lasagna.

Service was stellar. My son and wife had the chicken picata and raved. My sea bass special was from frozen so a bit disappointing. Some what rubbery and not too much flavor. The caper sauce was the BEST I’ve ever eaten. I need that recipe. Im sure we’ll go back.

We made reservations and came for Valentine’s Day and also our 1 year wedding anniversary and it was an amazing experience. They handed me a rose for Valentine’s Day and sprinkled some really cute heart shaped glitter on the table for us (I think for our anniversary, it was a really sweet touch). We got a mocktail and the minestrone soup to start, which were both really Delicious. Then, we got the Ciopinno and Gamberi scampi which both did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and helpful the entire way through as well. We ended with tiramisu which is house made and absolutely incredible, and a latte and tea. The ambience in this restaurant felt very European and I really enjoyed it.

Everything is always amazing. The scalpels are always perfectly cooked and the best I have ever had. The chicken with mushrooms is great and always a favorite. Definitely go and try the food!

So we have a reservation for my girlfriend’s birthday and when we got there we had to wait 15 minutes before we got sat. The host said that he had a lot of walk-ins but we had a reservation so we should not have had to wait. The tables we’re open in the restaurant so I don’t understand why we had to wait for a spot. Then it took an over an hour to get drinks for wine and a cocktail. Then we ordered our food and we waited for 45 minutes and it didn’t come and then when I asked about it they said my lasagna was going to take longer. We wind up being there over 2 hours before we finally ate and got out of there with a reservation on my friend’s birthday. I’m always a generous Tipper but I did not tip in this circumstance which is highly unusual for me
