Loved it here, food was good, drinks were great, service was a bit inconsistent but very charming and friendly, guy in charge was great and other guy was fun just not quite on it. Really really reccomend coming here and spending some hours although would say – it was good laid back hip hop music in evening but that kinda got a bit too loud and dancy and switched vibe too much later on for a place people are sitting and chatting and hanging out. Thanks for great eve ! Nice spot by the public beach and the better edge of town.

We’ve walked past Tropical Tacos countless times during our long strolls through Playa del Carmen, but we finally made it there for dinner on our last night—and honestly, I wish we’d gone much sooner!
We tried a great mix: shrimp tempura, grilled chicken topped with crispy French fries (yes, really!), original chicken, cochinita pibil, and marlin. These were hands-down some of the best tacos we’ve had in all of Playa—and we’ve been coming here for over a decade.
The tacos are generously loaded with meat and toppings (they’re practically overflowing!), and the house-made sauces are incredible—tamarind, spicy mayo, mango, and pineapple. Every bite bursts with flavor.
If you’re in Playa del Carmen, don’t sleep on this spot. It’s a true hidden gem and an absolute must-try. We’re already counting down to our next visit!

By far the best place on 5th! The food is great and the vibe is real. We experienced three different DJs, all three were great, even the house music was good. Everyone working there was so friendly and very welcoming.

I like the overall vibe I suppose. But it is definitely not a place I go for food. I go occasionally for their drink specials as they’re usually the only place open this far down fifth since they’ve relocated to Colosio. The bartender makes the drinks STRONG which I love. But after sampling the menu the first time? I never ever eat here. Just walk a couple blocks to a food cart. Much better food at less than half the price. Seriously. These tacos apparently have fancy ingredients but it’s barely anything and totally flavorless. I got like seven different things and honestly they all just tasted like a boiled chicken taco with raw vegetables. Tiny tacos, no flavor, salsas are wack, ingredients are minimal minus the unseasoned raw cole slaw they pile on. I think the gimmick is it’s supposed to be healthy but you’re better off just going to Walmart and buying a pack of tortillas and a bag of pre-cut coleslaw. That’s what this tastes like. You aren’t getting a marlin taco. You’re getting a thimble sized piece of mystery fish on top of a big bed of coleslaw.

The food was amazing and one of the best cocktails I have had in Mexico – we asked for spicy mezcalitas and they delivered. The tacos were also amazing, we had the cochinita pibil, fish, original and stuffed Chile tacos. So good. Not necessarily what I’d call cheap eats but very very tasty. Main complaint on our end was that the music is overpoweringly loud so don’t go here if you’re hoping to converse without a lot of effort! But the food is incredible.

Another spot we stop by very often. Beer is 50 pesos, the tacos are generous and funky mixing fusion from different regions of Mexico. The staff is nice and attentive. The owner and some staff members are from the West Coast, kind of a hip hop culture mix vibe.

Food, service, atmosphere on point. Found this place and it’s in the quieter part of 5th which is perfect. Right around our bnb. Great taste, freshness was incredible. Will be our regular go to spot it PDC. Loved seeing the Kaws figures. Was a really cool thing to see if you’re a fan.

These are probably in my top five places to get tacos in playa! I mean they are seriously good! You will have to walk aways down fifth ave to get to them but they are worth it! The atmosphere is amazing and be in their new location, every night they also have a DJ! Highly recommend

Best tacos in Playa for sure. The guys do a great job, one of my favourite spots! I usually order the Arrachera tacos, however I’ve had others and each type is unique and very well done. Top tier tacos.
