We ordered three different orders of vermicelli noodles today.
What a disappointment: the meat was just ok- the pork was coated with hoisin sauce or something like that. The shrimp was grilled and decent. The egg rolls were greasy and bland.
But- it was basically noodles, some not so fresh iceberg lettuce and four or five slivers of cucumber. No carrots, no bean sprouts, no cilantro and mint. I called them back when we got home thinking they forgot to put the stuff on. Nope. That’s how it is made now according to the lady who picked up the phone – she also said they never used to put those items on!
Never going back. Sorry new owners but this is not cool!
My father just reminded me after I posted this that there also used to be chopped peanuts on top! Haha- would not recommend if you want authentic vermicelli!
Ordered Chicken Pho. Food was hot, photo wirthu and delicious. It is a bit on the pricier side but on par with Tustin in general.
The cons
The bathroom needs a good scrub down as the walls are nasty and the sink has build up. It’s not the dirtiest I’ve seen but it’s farm from clean.
My biggest concern is the staff. No smiles and she didn’t acknowledge questions. Place was mostly empty and so she sat at the register on her phone most of the time. When ordering, she pushed adding an appetizer, and when I tried to clarify that I didn’t want dumplings besides those that came with the lunch special, we got a platter anyway. I accepted that I could have been clearer so my lunch cost me 30.00. Mostly, I felt judged and thought of as cheap. Though that could just be my perception, its not one I have often. Anyway, being on the phone is a higher priority than customers and that’s why I give the atmosphere a 2. To be clear the kitchen staff who brought the food to our table was great.
For about $18 a dish, the portions were plenty. Please note that my pho was mostly all noodles, though. There is not a lot of meat to noodle ratio, which gets disappointing when you get to the bottom of the bowl.
My husband got the fried noodles with a combination of seafood and proteins. Very generous on this end for protein.
Egg rolls were delicious, and the accompanying nuoc mam was pretty good. Would have liked a little heat, but we understand the Tustin Crowd. Overall, decent meal. Nothing too special, and the price is definitely something that will make us drive towards Garden Grove instead.
This was my first negative experience at this establishment. I have been here before, however, today I ordered a dish with crispy noodles, not realizing what they were. When the food arrived, I politely apologized and asked if there was any way the noodles could be exchanged for soft ones. The request was declined and the lady said I ordered what I ordered and cannot exchange it. While I understand this may be due to policy, the response and demeanor was unprofessional. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant.
