Such a gem! Arrived late to the mountain and weren’t sure where we’d be able to grab a decent meal on New Years Day, boy were we in for a treat! This place is so cute, cozy, and the food was delicious!! The filet mignon sliders were a hit with my kids and garlic fries (yummm), I couldn’t even get a pic they scarfed them down so fast. I got a salad with filet and it was so delicious! The fire pits were roaring outside and we’ll definitely be back!

Looks small but plenty of seating. And the food is delish! I love the concept. Food truck in the back where you order. Fire pit with chairs to relax. A tent which is heated. You can order brews and other local cocktails inside. There a few tables upstairs with TVs. Sit around the bar. A few hightop with chairs. The food is tasty. Staff is friendly and fun. You feel welcomed. Every local I ran into recommended this spot. They were right. If you are visiting Purgatory stop by here for dinner. Love the filet mignon sliders and the tomato basil bisque is to die for with a big crouton stuffed with cheese and fried. Yummy! What you waiting for head on over to the Nugget.

We stumbled upon The Nugget because we rented a home just across from it. And a friend of ours had been there and recommended it.
This is a place that is very easy to miss. It’s set back from the road and the signage really doesn’t advertise it.
However, if you miss it, it’s your loss.
The Nugget has the feel of a ski bum style bar. But not an upscale thing like you would find in Telluride or Vail. This place feels authentic to Purgatory. Like it’s been here since the beginning and hasn’t changed. That makes it cool and interesting on many levels. Attached to the Nugget is a food truck. And this place makes absolutely awesome food. The tacos are off the chain. The sliders and fries – fantastic. They take a lot of care in the food preparation and serving it hot and fresh. No microwaves here. Everything is prepared from scratch!
The Nugget punches way above its weight class
There is indoor and outdoor seating, fire pits and cornhole. Even an upper level.
We were the in the summer. It’s a chill place with a cool vibe. You can tell most of the folks there are locals and a few summer home people.
This is not in Durango with the shops and Main Street full of tourists. This is a one off country bar with a skiers vibe really serving the locals / summer time owners and those lucky enough to find it.
Very worth while stop.

Absolutely love the Nugget! We come here often, summer and winter, the menu is consistent, and the food is tasty! The beer is what you want to come for! All summer long there is live music, fire pit is roaring on cold nights, great spot! If your driving to Subversion, this joint is your halfway point, and worth the stop!

Nugget is one of a kind!! A spot that feels both completely unique and instantly welcoming. The scenery alone is worth the visit, with beautiful mountain views that create the perfect backdrop for a laid-back, memorable time. Inside, the atmosphere is cozy, fun, and full of life, making it the kind of place you want to stay for hours.
Owners Steve and Jamie are fantastic. Their warmth, personality, and passion for creating a great experience shine through!
If you’re in the Durango area and looking for a bar that’s special, vibrant, and surrounded by incredible views, Nugget should be at the top of your list!

Locals are all so great! Thanks everyone for your recommendations! Bar tenders made great drinks!good tunes, awesome snacks, and overall a cozy warm welcome vibe! Play corn hole (aka bags) out by the fire pit while listening to local live music, grab a booth and play shut the box, or hide out in the nook and play some foos ball.

This was a great find!! We were just passing through and found this charming place with so much character. Fox, the bartender, was friendly and helpful. Great selection of beers. Food truck attached has the BEST sliders (filet mignon, crab cake, and BBQ bacon cheeseburger) and fries (incl truffle parmesan, garlic)! Will definitely come back!!!

A low-key bar we stopped at for a quick bite after exploring Purgatory Resort in Durango, Colorado. We ordered Bacon Cheese Burger Slider and Fillet Mignon Slider. It was so good, however my Spicy Cajun Fries were a little bit too salty for my palate.
It appeared as if they were under staff on the day we’re there. I know customers are expected to clean after themselves but we have to clean our tables and put away whatever previous customers left behind.

If Smurfs or Fraggles were real….they would all be hanging out at this place because it for real, is the end of the rainbow!!!! The Nugget Mountain Bar is one of the finest establishments in all the land. The ownership is probably the classiest human beings I know who will bend over backwards to make sure that your experience there is memorable. I LOVE THE APPAREL!!! They have super creative merch & and an eye for authentic apparel. But you don’t just get to wet your whistle here, you have access to some of the most GOURMET SLIDERS on the planet. My family and I love getting grub here when we’re chillin at the condo at Purg. The Nugget is truly the diamond in the Colorado rough. Go out of your way to stop at this enchanting space. It will change your life. These photos are from a small Wedding. We encourage the couple to take their family here after their Wedding on the mountain!

A great mountain bar. Super chill. We could hear the music and laughter as soon as we got out of the car. It was warm when we made our visit but they had several little gas fire pits- so would be fun during cooler days/nights as well.
