Overall, we had a great experience!

The service was exceptional, drinks were fantastic, and food was pretty good. It was a little stuffy inside, but not unbearable. They have daily variations of deviled eggs if that’s your thing, and live music regularly (however this wasn’t happening at the time we were there). We enjoyed our time and will definitely be back to enjoy some live music another day.

Swire Inn is a beautiful historic place that features the best chicken and waffles we’ve ever had. The live music on the back patio is a plus. We also absolutely had an exceptional waitress. The vibe is spectacular. We will be back.

Cute place, but something has changed. When I went in February, the food was great, service was okay. Now they are both not great. Wait forever to get your food and ended up with dry, undercooked Brussel Sprouts that you could barely stab a fork into. Then the waitress comes up after sitting there for 20 minutes and says, “You should put your order in now because the kitchen is backed up.”. This was the only time we had seen her since we got our drinks. We weren’t holding it up! The shepherds pie was all but microwaved, crusty, no sauce, super dry. It was like eating sand. The pork medallions were about the size of a half dollar and about as thick and you got 2! The special BBQ sauce or whatever tasted like Hunts BBQ. We couldn’t finish our meals, we took them home so we could cook them the rest of the way and add flavors. It’s unfortunate because it was great in February, but we won’t be back. Waiting an hour for food is not my thing when there were barely 15 to 20 people there.

Had the fish and chips and the steakhouse burger. Both were great! Really neat, old building which they let us explore.

Pretty stoked to be neighbors with this establishment! Get your taste buds ready, the dishes and drinks (omg the drinks) are hand-crafted with care and an abundance of flavor. Everything you could hope for from a local gastro pub located directly across from the Sorg opera house in the South Main Street Historic District.

Garlic butter salmon was fabulous. Chicken and waffles were so good. The deviled egg “taco” were outstanding.

Aug-17-2024 My Review Update is in Progress. Update will include additional Swire Inn information. Highway 61 Photos taken Saturday night Aug-17-2024. GM Name-Shelby? Coming in September – Autumn Cocktail White Russian made with Screwball Peanut Butter Whiskey.

The Swire Inn continues to thrive as a quality restaurant with fabulous food. The same can be said about the upscale musicians who perform on weekend nights inside or on the patio weather permitting. I got to enjoy David Thornton’s excellent repertoire of diverse entertaining songs on accoustic guitar. Always pleasing. Always satisfying. The Swire Inn has a fabulous creative menu, a full bar, and live music on Friday and or Saturday evenings. Quite an interesting business created with a flare for a modern take on renovation in a historic building in the heart of historic downtown Middletown. Well worth making the Swire Inn a must on your list of places to have dinner and weekend entertainment. I enjoyed their full dinner with one giant portabello mushroom as the main course, all sauced up with onions and tender brussels sprouts on the side. I dined on the patio outside and enjoyed an accoustic singer guitar player. My waiter, Sam, was very professional and attentive to my satisfaction during my entire experience which was all positive. I enjoyed it. I’ve enjoyed live entertainment at the Swire by some of the finest local area seasoned and talented musicians.

My family ate here for my mom’s birthday. It was such a wonderful and pleasant experience! I had the Shepard’s pie, and it was so delicious! The house ranch is one of the best I’ve had. My parents’ pot roast was perfect, better even than most homemade ones that I’ve had. It was great. Also, their waffles?! So GOOD!

The staff were all super friendly, timely and helpful. The atmosphere was nice and intimate; the building is just beautiful. We had a blast! Best pub food around, hands down. I definitely will be recommending this place to everyone I know.
