Excellent establishment with outstanding staff. My compliments to Alice, who is unsurpassed in welcoming patrons. And the patrons are among the friendliest I’ve met.

We got married @ the courthouse and came in here for celebratory drinks. The bartender was amazing, great attitude, great smile and excellent service. I can’t remember her name, but i do remember her saying to just call her “mom”! Thanks for making a memorable day turn into an even better and more memorable day for me, my wife and all our guests!

My friends and I love this bar, and the atmosphere. Friendly people and the pool table adds an extra level of fun. Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with the bartender (brown hair, younger). I personally had a banking situation so I had to go get the cash from a friend down the street, but in the interim she told my friends that they could not leave if the tab was not paid for ($32), creating an uncomfortable environment. When I got back, I only had $20 dls and waiting on my friend to cashapp me the rest to pay for my tab (this was around 1:10 am) but the bartender was very rude and disrespectful towards us. I let her know that I was waiting for a transfer, so she started making fun of me and being condescending and with a big attitude, even though it was not closing time yet. Bartender ended up kicking me out, because she stated that did not have time for that.

It is very unfortunate because she ruined our night and we don’t feel comfortable going back out there anymore.

This is a pretty decent dive bar located on the 1200 block of state. The drinks are good and the bartenders are friendly. Its a nice place to hang out. They also have a pool table which is great. Last time I was here was had drinks and then got take out from the BBQ place next door while we were waiting for a sunken gardens movie to start, I think that place went out of business though.

EXTREMELY rude & condescending. An entire group of us were being polite and we were completely shut down and dismissed. Not even given a chance to order and enjoy our time here. Worst bar I’ve ever been to in SB. 0/10. Just don’t go here.

It should be noted that this is the ‘new’ Sportsman Lounge location on State Street. It’s decidedly a more upscale vibe than the dive/locals bar feel of the old location off Figueroa and Chapala. Which accounts for some of the older reviews. The move happened shortly before Covid brought the world down, and I’m grateful Sporty’s survived! It’s a good place now and it was a good place before, but the new location results in a decidedly new vibe.

One bar-box pool table and league play on Tuesday nights. Full bar. Prime location on State Street which makes for an interesting mixture of long-time Sporty’s regulars as well as first time walk-ins. Either way you’ll be welcome and will make friends here if that’s what you’re looking for.

We enjoy stopping in the Sportsman for drinks before shows at the Arlington Theatre. Very reasonably priced happy hour drinks and good pours!! They also play a nice wide array of music that we really like! I recommend stopping by!!

This bar is luring in customers with lies. There’s a big sign outside that says Happy Hour is from 4-7pm. However, when you pay, they tell you that there is no happy hour on weekends, and that it doesn’t even apply to cocktails. So why is this table out there?? This is deliberate deception of consumers, it should be punished!
