I love this place, such a cute, small, cozy spot that delivers big, delicious flavors. I’ve only ever had the croissants and they are incredible, but hope to try their other menu items soon! Service is great, everyone is happy and super helpful! Absolutely worth the wait for fresh delicious croissants! My absolute favorite is the chocolate almond croissant but you can’t go wrong with any of them!

Great pastries! I only tried the croissant and pain au chocolat, but they were both really good. Crispy, buttery as needed.
The spot looks cool, a few people were hanging out as you can sit as well.
So, If I’m around I will have to try more and enjoy the spot!

The line was only five deep at 9am on a Friday. I had an almond chocolate croissant, a pear & almond tart and a plain croissant. Everything was unbelievably delicious and I can’t wait to go back.

Stepping into Lou’s bakery is like being transported back to my childhood in Paris. It’s a feeling only those who’ve lived there would understand, like visiting a local boulangerie with the most incredible smells and textures. There’s always a line, but it’s worth the wait every single time. The chouquettes are an absolute dream, and the croissants are perfection, fluffy, crispy, light, with that perfect buttery flavor, but never greasy. The service is fantastic, super friendly, and always welcoming. When you order your coffee, they add a custom little drawing on it, which just adds to the charm! Lou, the owner, is incredibly nice and welcoming, making every visit a delight. This place is a true gem! If only he opens a spot in San Diego 😉

This place is so cute! There was a bit of a line when I arrived around 10 AM but it went by quickly. I bought the pain au chocolate and a croissant to thank my friends.

September 2024:
Stopped by for breakfast and ordered the chocolate almond croissant and a drip coffee ☕.
The chocolate almond croissant was probably one of the best that I have eaten. Very flaky, tasty filling, and a generous portion overall . Would definitely come back again for the pastries.
Coffee was good. Surprised that they charged us seventy five cents for adding a little oat milk to my two coffees ☕.
Took a baguette home and it was tasty. Will come back for some sandwiches next time!

Being French when I give a 5 star rating to a French bakery, it says it all. I tried the flan, almond chocolate croissant, financier, chausson aux pommes, baguette, pain aux raisins Everything was absolutely delicious!!

Lou, The French On The Block has become our weekend tradition. We’re here every single weekend for the almond croissant — truly the best we’ve ever had. Perfectly flaky, buttery, and filled just right.
The vibe is cozy, the pastries are always fresh, and the staff makes you feel like a regular from day one. If you’re looking for a little taste of France in the neighborhood, this is the place. Highly recommended!

This place is so famous that I decided to go early in the morning. Thankfully, they offer online pickup, which made things more convenient. I had a sandwich and a tart, both of which were delicious.
However, one inconvenience was that despite arriving early when there was no line and only a few customers, my sandwich took 25 minutes to come out. I noticed that people who arrived after me received their sandwiches first, so I went to ask about my order. It turned out they had prepared it but simply hadn’t served it. This didn’t leave a great impression in terms of service.
That being said, the bread was absolutely fantastic. In the future, I think I’ll stick to ordering online for pickup rather than dining in.
