Olive by the Bay is an absolute hidden gem in Southern California, and I’m so glad I stumbled upon this charming little spot! Tucked away in a cozy corner, this place may be small, but it packs a huge punch when it comes to vibe, flavor, and hospitality. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot that feels like a warm hug, this is it.

The Vibe:
Walking into Olive by the Bay feels like stepping into a quaint European café mixed with a laid-back SoCal beach house. The space is intimate and inviting, with rustic decor, soft lighting, and just the right amount of greenery to make it feel fresh and alive. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, unwind, and forget about the chaos of the outside world. The small size only adds to its charm, making it feel like your own little secret spot.

The Food:
Let’s talk about the star of the show—the food. The breakfast here is next-level delicious. I ordered the classic eggs with avocado toast, and it was perfection. The eggs were cooked just right—fluffy and rich—and the avocado toast was creamy, topped with a sprinkle of chili flakes and a drizzle of olive oil that tied everything together. Every bite was a reminder of how good simple, well-made food can be. My friend got the breakfast burrito, and after stealing a bite (okay, maybe two), I can confirm it’s equally amazing.

The Drinks:
The drink menu is just as impressive as the food. Their coffee is smooth and robust, and they offer a variety of specialty lattes that are worth trying. I went for the lavender latte, and it was floral, creamy, and not overly sweet—basically, a dream in a cup. They also have fresh-squeezed juices and mimosas if you’re in the mood for something boozy to kick off your day.

Omg, where do I even start?! I recently checked out Olive by The Bay on the Long Beach peninsula, and I just HAD to share the experience with all of you! First off, the ambiance is just immaculate–think modern meets beachy with a super cozy touch. Every corner is Insta-worthy, and the staff makes you feel like you’re part of the fam from the moment you step in.

Now, let’s talk food because, wow, it’s a game changer! The homemade cheese rolls are to die for–like, seriously, they’re my absolute fave! They’re perfectly cheesy and have such a unique taste that you just can’t find anywhere else. These things are ADDICTING !!!!! The Pesto Pasta and Alfredo Pasta are hands-down the best I’ve ever had. They nail that rich, home-cooked flavor that makes you feel all warm inside.

The ingredients are all super fresh, and you can really tell they put a lot of love into their recipes. Every dish we tried was a hit, making it impossible to choose a favorite (though those cheese rolls might just take the cake ).

If you’re looking for a spot that promises a delicious meal and a great time, you absolutely need to check out Olive by The Bay. Great food, stunning decor, and the friendliest staff–this place really has it all!

Very cute tiny joint. Call ahead to ask if there is a wait. You can also go online and order ahead for pick up. Olive also caters.

It has been open since May 2024 but I just found out about it while bicycling the Penninsula. I had an Oat Milk Matcha Latte. It was good.

I can tell you the plated food looked GREAT. The baked goods case looked only as good as what you could buy at Starbucks. I don’t think they bake on site. The two ladies in the photo with me have gotten coffee twice here. They say the coffee drinks are adequate but the wait is too long. The staff said business has really been picking up so maybe they are understaffed for how popular they are getting.

What they DO have on site is parking in a fenced in lot next door. This is good because 62nd is a postage stamp of a street.

I would recommend this place as a great place to meet a friend for brunch. Small, cute, not too loud. And you can walk to the sandy part of the Penninsula right after you eat.

We are so happy to have Olive By the Bay now open in the Peninsula community of Long Beach CA. They offer a great location near the beach. We have been here several times and have enjoyed delicious food for both breakfast and lunch. We often go by for coffee as well. We recommend you stop by and eat here. Tip: make sure you pay attention to the parking regulations / street sweeper.

Nicely redone; new owner (again).
Everything was great.

Enjoyed the food tremendously. Service was quite attentive.

Dogs welcome on the patio.

Hopefully this iteration lasts- has been kind of a bad luck location for years with frequent ownership changes.

Yummy things: chilaquiles with steak, brioche French toast and a side egg/bacon! We also ordered a cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso + an iced double espresso with honey. Our server was so sweet! And love the patio seating area, very vibeyyyy

Thoroughly enjoyed brunch with 3 of my besties this last weekend. I ordered the peninsula omelet and my 3 friends ordered avocado toast with their eggs prepared 3 different ways. We all agreed each of our entrees was delicious with fresh ingredients, beautifully prepared and played beautifully. One friend said that as a self-proclaimed avocado toast expert, theirs was hands down the best. Coffee was brewed fresh. Will definitely be a regular from now on!!

My daughter and I really enjoyed this restaurant. I ordered the chicken bowl with rice and greens. She ordered the chicken pesto sandwich. Both were excellent. Very flavorful with generous portions. I will definitely go back. We were fortunate to be able to walk so we did not have any parking issues. Our waitress was wonderful and the service was excellent. I do recommend Olive By The Bay.

This was my 1st time here and I was very satisfied with the experience. I came with 6 other members of my family and we all enjoyed it. I had the fried chicken bowl and the brioche French toast. Both of them were really good. My son had the chocolate French toast and he really liked his too. The atmosphere is cool since it’s in the middle of the neighborhood and feels like a family member’s restaurant. The service was really good too. Everyone was nice. Definitely will go back soon.
