The Vibe:
Walking into Olive by the Bay feels like stepping into a quaint European café mixed with a laid-back SoCal beach house. The space is intimate and inviting, with rustic decor, soft lighting, and just the right amount of greenery to make it feel fresh and alive. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, unwind, and forget about the chaos of the outside world. The small size only adds to its charm, making it feel like your own little secret spot.
The Food:
Let’s talk about the star of the show—the food. The breakfast here is next-level delicious. I ordered the classic eggs with avocado toast, and it was perfection. The eggs were cooked just right—fluffy and rich—and the avocado toast was creamy, topped with a sprinkle of chili flakes and a drizzle of olive oil that tied everything together. Every bite was a reminder of how good simple, well-made food can be. My friend got the breakfast burrito, and after stealing a bite (okay, maybe two), I can confirm it’s equally amazing.
The Drinks:
The drink menu is just as impressive as the food. Their coffee is smooth and robust, and they offer a variety of specialty lattes that are worth trying. I went for the lavender latte, and it was floral, creamy, and not overly sweet—basically, a dream in a cup. They also have fresh-squeezed juices and mimosas if you’re in the mood for something boozy to kick off your day.
Now, let’s talk food because, wow, it’s a game changer! The homemade cheese rolls are to die for–like, seriously, they’re my absolute fave! They’re perfectly cheesy and have such a unique taste that you just can’t find anywhere else. These things are ADDICTING !!!!! The Pesto Pasta and Alfredo Pasta are hands-down the best I’ve ever had. They nail that rich, home-cooked flavor that makes you feel all warm inside.
The ingredients are all super fresh, and you can really tell they put a lot of love into their recipes. Every dish we tried was a hit, making it impossible to choose a favorite (though those cheese rolls might just take the cake ).
If you’re looking for a spot that promises a delicious meal and a great time, you absolutely need to check out Olive by The Bay. Great food, stunning decor, and the friendliest staff–this place really has it all!
It has been open since May 2024 but I just found out about it while bicycling the Penninsula. I had an Oat Milk Matcha Latte. It was good.
I can tell you the plated food looked GREAT. The baked goods case looked only as good as what you could buy at Starbucks. I don’t think they bake on site. The two ladies in the photo with me have gotten coffee twice here. They say the coffee drinks are adequate but the wait is too long. The staff said business has really been picking up so maybe they are understaffed for how popular they are getting.
What they DO have on site is parking in a fenced in lot next door. This is good because 62nd is a postage stamp of a street.
I would recommend this place as a great place to meet a friend for brunch. Small, cute, not too loud. And you can walk to the sandy part of the Penninsula right after you eat.
Everything was great.
Enjoyed the food tremendously. Service was quite attentive.
Dogs welcome on the patio.
Hopefully this iteration lasts- has been kind of a bad luck location for years with frequent ownership changes.
