As a native to the area who recently moved back, finding good food is incredibly difficult. Most of the flavors you expect aren’t there when you’re eating out in the U.P.. this restaurant however caters to tourists from all over the country and it shows.
The fish sandwich here is probably the best beer battered fish I’ve ever had and I’ve ordered it in multiple countries. The staff is kind, the place is clean, and the atmosphere is fantastic. This is definitely the place to eat in Keweenaw.
They also have quite a few spots to charge electric vehicles, which is not at all common up here.
But asked the server for recommendations and he was super nice and told us great choices. We had BBQ Riblets with sweet potato fries, Balsamic Steak Salad, and BBQ Chicken pizza that were all phenomenal. The rib let’s could’ve used more meat on the bone but all was good 🙂
Unfortunately, the main complaint we saw — that the server was rude — turned out to be true. Our server was rude and not attentive at all.
On a positive note, the sandwich I ordered was actually pretty good, especially the meat. The coleslaw was also good, but the fries were bland and a bit hard.
The Halfhitch was delicious And I ate it at Hunter’s point
We ordered cheese curds to start and they were very good. My boyfriend and I shared a sandwich brisket sandwich and that was just okay. The brisket was chewy and not as soft as it should have been, but the fries were tasty.
It’s the kind of meal that hits after a day of exploring — cozy, satisfying, and way better than you expect. Casual vibes, friendly service, and seriously good food. If you’re in Copper Harbor and don’t stop at The Mariner, you’re doing it wrong.
