Amazing food!

As a native to the area who recently moved back, finding good food is incredibly difficult. Most of the flavors you expect aren’t there when you’re eating out in the U.P.. this restaurant however caters to tourists from all over the country and it shows.

The fish sandwich here is probably the best beer battered fish I’ve ever had and I’ve ordered it in multiple countries. The staff is kind, the place is clean, and the atmosphere is fantastic. This is definitely the place to eat in Keweenaw.

They also have quite a few spots to charge electric vehicles, which is not at all common up here.

Don’t get the nachos!! Yucky
But asked the server for recommendations and he was super nice and told us great choices. We had BBQ Riblets with sweet potato fries, Balsamic Steak Salad, and BBQ Chicken pizza that were all phenomenal. The rib let’s could’ve used more meat on the bone but all was good 🙂

The food came fairly quickly but we both felt not so good after we ate. It was a pretty popular restaurant. I had the Ruben it tasted pretty good but my tummy did not like it as much as my mouth liked it the first time it passed through

To preface, we already didn’t really want to come here after seeing multiple social media comments and reviews saying to go somewhere else. But since the few places we wanted to visit were closed for the season, we decided to give it a try ourselves.

Unfortunately, the main complaint we saw — that the server was rude — turned out to be true. Our server was rude and not attentive at all.

On a positive note, the sandwich I ordered was actually pretty good, especially the meat. The coleslaw was also good, but the fries were bland and a bit hard.

Very yummy and friendly place! I came here at 8:30. They close at nine and they were still willing to give me a to go order.

Service is king here. They hire very friendly and competent exchange students from Eastern Europe. We had fish dip as an appetizer and it was delicious as always. We’ve been here before. My wife had a gluten free whitefish meal and I ordered baked whitefish, although I swear it was trout. Anyway. All was delicious. We come here every year.

I would highly recommend The Mariner North, delicious food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere. I had the Chimichurri Chicken, with rice and a salad, and my son ordered a full rack of ribs, with rice, and a bowl of French onion soup. The chimichurri chicken is absolutely delicious, and pairs well with the long grain/wild rice blend. My son rectally enjoyed the ribs, and are the entire rack, he enjoyed the soup as well.

Really great food with friendly and helpful staff. The Portside Grilled Cheese may have been one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. We were made to feel welcome even with a small carry-out order and invited to sit and order a beverage while we waited, which we did. Would love to come back sometime for a full meal.

The meal was overall good. The staff was somewhat inattentive but was helpful when they did check on our table.

We ordered cheese curds to start and they were very good. My boyfriend and I shared a sandwich brisket sandwich and that was just okay. The brisket was chewy and not as soft as it should have been, but the fries were tasty.

The Mariner in Copper Harbor is one of those places you’ll still be thinking about long after you leave town. The artisan grilled cheese alone is worth the stop — absolutely a must-try. We ordered The First Mate and The Smokestack, and wow… next-level comfort food done right. Perfectly grilled, melty, flavorful, and clearly made with care.

It’s the kind of meal that hits after a day of exploring — cozy, satisfying, and way better than you expect. Casual vibes, friendly service, and seriously good food. If you’re in Copper Harbor and don’t stop at The Mariner, you’re doing it wrong.
