Haven’t been here in 5 or 10 years. Rather disappointing on those long-ago visits. Today first time back, and what a huge difference! Much cleaner, prices are fair, and quality is on par with the better “authentic” Boise restaurants. Is it LA quality? No. Is it Canyon County par? Definitely.
The employee told me the torta is his preference versus the standard benchmark burrito. I’d give it a Boise 8 out of 10! Salsa bar was clean and fresh. $9.99 plus tax for the pork. Can’t wait to try their $10 burrito.
Don’t know if I would make a special trip across town but if in the area, it’s a no-brainer. The atmosphere and seating is better than Campos if that means anything to you. Nothing else I can add other than Carniceria is worthy of the recent reviews.

So good! You know it’s good when you’re the only white people there. Great rellenos, pazole and we tried all the tacos. Loved the salsa bar too. We have already planned our next visit and what we’re going to order

I’ve been coming here for years this location before it was what it is now I can’t remember what it was called as a kid I remember coming to and eating and playing in the courtyard outside so when I come, it reminds me of that now I don’t know if the gentleman that checks you out, he wears a hat is just that aggressive all the time but I’m a Numbers person. I ask him to give me an amount on how much meat I asked for he says a little over 5 pounds. I said OK how much they print stickers out with how many pounds at the price that the meat is being sold out I do the math and it’s four or five dollars less than what he’s telling me now he tells me that I’m doing in the math wrong again I’m a Numbers guy. I know how to do math. We have an argument and then he tells me that my pockets are hurting. I ask him so you’re calling me broke and he said yeah straight to my face then doesn’t tell me the meat which is fine. There’s plenty of meat markets around but again I go there because I think my local support local we actually had an argument for about at least two minutes all I wanted to know was how much meat was in the bag so I can do the math then I show him my phone with the number that was at his till matching. I’m like if you would’ve simply told me that’s how much meat was in there I could do the math and it all up it’s not like I was trying to start a fight before that so I can prove a point here. I sat down. I ordered Menudo. I eat my food and then I went to get the meat so it’s not like I just went in looking for a fight, but this isn’t the only time that this has happened and it’s the first time I really choose to voice my opinion about something because there’s been several other occasions where I come into this location and this gentleman seems to have an issue with me I pay no questions. I get me tortillas limes but this is outrageous like if he has an issue with me as soon as I walk through the door Hey tell me to show away. I think this kind of business practice is hilarious. The fact that I want to check that I’m not being overcharged or something and that question my pocketbook, which is the statement he made like are you that worried about your customers pockets

Posole was salty. Adovada didn’t have that great of flavor and it was too chunky for my tacos. Galdo de Res didn’t have much vegetables to it. Service was great though.

Finally tried this place for the first time today. Wish we hadn’t waited do long. Everything was so good. There was a bit of a wait, but that’s to be expected when you’re serving awesome food! They were pretty packed, but it was well worth the wait. Will definitely be back especially since we luckily only live a few minutes away.

I had the menudo and a couple of tacos—the food was pretty good! The place gets pretty packed, especially on weekends. Since it’s not a large space, you might end up sharing a table with other people. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Very good for their price point. The service was fast. The tamal was very well shaped and the right amount of masa. The carnitas tacos was very very good. The rice and refried beans was tasty but the beans was a bit watery. Over all I would recommend this place to eat at. PS they also have a market with a butchers area.

Super nondescript little authentic Mexican store with a kitchen, hiding in a run down strip mall… and we LOVED it!! Carne Asada Burritos were awesome, rice full of flavor. Loved the spicy pico as well from the salsa bar. What a hidden gem.

This is an excellent and authentic taqueria that’s located in a modest strip mall. I thought the food was great! I had a mix of different tacos- carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas- and they were all delicious. My friend said his burrito was very good. The prices were appropriate and affordable. There are a variety of salsas and other condiments that were very tasty. The service was friendly, and they have a bunch of different drinks that you take yourself from fridges. There is a small store with fresh Mexican products and a carniceria attached to the restaurant. If you want good Mexican food in Boise, this is the correct choice.

Listen, I’ve hit many Mexican joints, especially trucks over the years, from San Diego to Seattle. Bay area to Boston. This place is legit. Dead give away, Mexican groceries are part of the business. And, lots of Spanish in the room at lunchtime.
Location. Typical off street lower level strip mall. Low rent type of location. Parking can be challenging
Ambiance. Low key. Nothing special. Mom and pop. Sometimes less than clean looking.
Food. I started with their version of a quesadilla. Yes I said quesadilla.
It’s not typical. In fact, when I came I asked the recommendation and they said that. I shied away until they described it. It is the bomb. It is not American style Quesadilla. In fact, it’s not with cheese or just very little. Shhhuuuuu. Just order it and eat.
Bottom line, everything I’ve tried is excellent, start with the quesadilla. And again, don’t think American style.
Bottom line would I come back? Indeed. I’m riding this review and this is my 4th or 5th time. There you go.
Enjoy!!
