We went to the old Indian place in MP a few years ago, what a turn off. The owner was rude, they charged for things without letting you know in advance how it all worked, it generally sucked.

Fast forward to the Bombay Grill. Called a few times and we were worried because they could not tell us 100% what would be on the buffet. Finally made the move and stopped in. It was a bit empty, and by that I mean we were the only customers, instant red flag. That flag went down as soon as we had our first bite of some really great food. I love any and all things traditional. Food which is “Americanized” to appeal to dull pallets is offensive to me. This food was spot on and traditional, as it should be, The service was really good and VERY friendly. We will be going back often.

I gave it 4 stars as the pricing is slightly high, but it will not deter us from future visits.

The Indian buffet is so tasty, and it’s a great deal. The second time we went, we ordered off the Indian menu, and OMG I am still thinking about those dishes! The Malai Kofta was amazing. The dishes on the menu are pricier than going with the buffet, but if you share a few, the bill comes out about the same as any other mid-range restaurant in town. And it is SO worth it. The Indian menu has lots of options, including a ton of vegetarian dishes.

There is also a full American-style diner menu including breakfast items around the clock. Despite doubling as a bar after hours, the meal times are kid-friendly and also good for big groups. And the since there is a bar, they also have a large selection of drafts to order with your meal. The people who run it are very friendly, too. This place makes me so happy. I’m so excited that we have L-1!

We have eaten here several times, both sit in and take out. I really enjoy their lunch buffet and everything I’ve ordered from the menu has been excellent. I love their food…I could eat it everyday! I am very happy to have their authentic Indian food in Mt. Pleasant!

The service was terrible! In addition I was expecting at least a little rice with the tandori chicken I ordered but no. Everything seems to be completely ala carte and the do not inform you of this. No condiments on the table. The gin and tonic my wife ordered came without a lemon or lime. They did not know how to make a martini but it took more than 15 minutes to let us know that fact. The meal
took almost 2 hours to complete. This place should be a great hit because there is no other Indian restaurant anywhere near my pleasant. I give them six months to a year before they go out of business. Very disappointed.

I didn’t eat the buffet like most of the patrons. Remember I have never eaten Indian food but I was feeling adventurous. I am on a diet and I heard Indian food is very health and it really was. I ordered an appitizer which was humus with peta bread and chicken. I didn’t know if I liked humus but the waiter went to the buffet. Got me a chip and allowed me to try some for myself. For entree I order the Bombay fish curry with came with some of the longest rice I have ever seen. The chef came out and asked me how hot I wanted my curry because with Indian food they can get the food very hot. One being the lowest and ten being the highest I went between three to four. It was perfect! Had a little kick but not enough where I would have to break out my Tums. The only bad thing that happened was my entree came out before my appetizer. The chef came back through and wondered if I would like to try some desserts. I wanted to but wanted something healthy. He wanted to surprise me and he did. He had these three looked like donut balls in a light creme type of sauce. Very good and not to big just perfect! Which was my experience at this restaurant. I was well taken care of and the food just plain awesome along with health. Thank you L1.

SUPER GOOD!! Wish I had gone sooner! A family friend had an event catered by L1 (which also goes by “Bombay Grill” now) and I had never had Indian food, but I’m willing to give anything a try. It was ALL amazing! I couldn’t keep away from the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Naan bread. I’d been wanting to visit the restaurant ever since, but my wife isn’t very willing to try new stuff. Well, I finally got her to go and even picky, little her loved everything we tried! The Butter Chicken is addictive. At spice level 3 of 5 it was perfect; just enough zip. we ordered the Assorted Bread which has the Garlic Naan, the Cheese Naan (with Paneera), and the Onion Kulcha. It was all great, especially the Garlic Naan. I could just eat a stack of this stuff. The Chicken Tikka Masala was just as tasty as I had recalled and the Jeera Aloo was a great side dish (Potatoes and Green Pepper grilled with spices).
It did take a minute or so for the hostess/waitress to come and greet us when we came in, but was super attentive and friendly the rest of our meal. The owner even came over and thanked us for coming. The atmosphere is a little strange as it looks liker a straight up night club and you feel like your eating on a dance floor (because you are…), but the food BY FAR makes up for any shortcomings in ambiance. Go once and I guarantee you’ll go back.

Me and my family went there tonight and ordered 2 pakoras. We waited for more than half hour and didn’t get our food on table. Finally we had to cancel the order as our children got bored waiting. The restaurant did not have too many customers, still they made that slow service.

If you order lamb or goat, then you will need a microscope to find the meat piece!

One day they charged us $8 as service charge!

WORST SERVICE We Ever Had! Never go there.

This place is really fantastic, especially at the price point. Definitely worth a visit. Lunch buffet is never crowded and is quite good, but ordering from the menu is usually better. Lots of vegetarian options (obviously) and reasonably cheap.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! Alyssa was our waitress, she was monotone, did not smile or great us when we we walked in. She did not put silverware on the table and I HAD TO GET UP AND TAKE IT FROM THE BUFFET. She knew NOTHING about the menu when we asked her a question, she also got my order wrong. I asked for a heat level of 3 and she gave me 2, not a big deal but she should at least get the orders right. She also knew nothing about the heat level of the dishes, when our food came out she forgot who’s was who and even forgot what spice level the dishes were and gave my friend who asked for mild a spicey plate because she forgot. Then we got our checks she gave all the book a to one person and said to pass them around and hovered over us with her hand on her hip while we were trying to get our credit cards out to pay. To top it all off, she never asked for boxes. My friend got up went to the bar and asked her for a box and she pointed to where the boxes were and MY FRIEND HAD TO GET HER OWN BOX! The only reason I even gave her a tip was because I have to see her everyday at school, if not she wouldn’t have even got $1.
